Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but have been an active member over on JeepForum for a while.

Right now I have a 98 TJ with the 2.5L and have been having a lot of problems with it recently. I'm taking it as a sign to trade it in haha. There is an '05 CRD Libby for sale nearby with 65,000 miles on it. I like the idea of lots of torque and 25+ mpg on the highway. Not to mention a bit more storage space than my TJ has. I've been doing some research and it sounds like the CRD's had some problems? I keep reading about guys having to replace EGR valves and torque converters and such. Is it something I should steer away from?

If you pull your own wrenches and have some technical ability, the fixes are not that bad to have a reliable Jeep.
If you go to Steelerships you will go broke, most don't know diesels and throw on parts to fix the problem, this may be why the 05 is up for sale.
In fact a lot of the problems that are discussed on this CRD forum are fixes for the Bean Counter Engineering Chrysler threw at the CRDs for cheap non fix solutions that degraded the performance.
You will need to determine if you want a stock CRD or if you want to unleash the capabilities and have much more. As you can see in my sig, I desire more.
Read through the CRD Tech section and read through some of the older threads.

Good Luck either way.

Except a BP stations, I believe.... Just triple check to make sure you are mashing the "diesel" button.

This tip may be moot as I'm thinking BP may have a re-branding soon. Not too popular anymore I hear....

British Petroleum already re-branded once. It worked well enough since few people seem to remember who they really are right now.
