OK quick question. I will have well over 100K my Liberty CRD by the end of summer alt pulley is rattling and took the cover off and lots of black carbon type dust inside. Question is Replace the Alternator or just the pulley? How many miles should I get out of the alternator? Pulley is gonna run me $63 Alt with the pulley is just over $300 |

Yep I use moparpartsaerica.com a lot. ![]() Have a '89 Ramcharger that runs better than the Jeep but at 13 mpg highway its hard to drive it all the time. |

Alternator WITH proper clutch pulley, new, free shipping... $150. Advance Auto Parts. They do have them, or can get them quick. Good solution if you manage to strip the center shaft like I did, and another member here also did recently. |

Georgi, that is a great price, good for reference ... thanks Now if we could get prices like these on other parts that eventually would need replacement like my transmission Intercooler, list price of $700.00, then we would be in business. |

Having troubles here, At www.Moparpartsamerica.com I type in the part number for the decoupler #53013554AE and nothing comes up. the alternator, bracket and all, I can find, but not the decoupler. Any Ideas? ![]() Also, O'reilly's has the alternator listed at $135.99 plus shipping but it has to come from the factory (Ultima brand?) this also has a $73 core charge. |

I tried to order one from O'reilly's...apparently they may not be able to get them. Took the alternator to a local starter/alternator shop and they replaced the pulley. $75...sounds like a common issue. You may want to try http://www.moparonlineparts.com/ they actually pick up the phone. and will beat the prices from mopar parts america (who i couldn't get to answer my calls). Ask for Doug... |

OK, I went ahead and ordered the decoupler pulley from moparpartsamerica.com but forgot to order the dust seal/cover for the front and can't seem to find a part number for it anywhere. Anybody able to help me out on this one? |

Just use your old one that is all i did no reason to order a new one. And yes this is a very common issue replaced mine about 3 months ago. I even had a buddy who had the proper tool that attaches to and air wrench to remove it. Took all of 20 seconds to remove the old and put the new one on. |

If your alternator pulley is gone, there's a good chance the free-spinning tensioner pulley is too. Don't forget to check it while your belt is off. Don't have the part # for that one, though, as the dealer did mine a while back under warranty. Dan |

Here are the part numbers for the both of them the alternator pulley (53013554AE) and the Tensioner Pulley(5072440AB). I think they have gone up some but when i got them they were 249.00 and about 15 to ship to SC. |

Are these the same pulleys that are in the timing belt parts list thread? I'm doing my timing belt this Winter and I want to replace everything at once that is under the timing cover. |

Nope this is the alternator pulley attached directly to the front of the alternator it has internal clutch disc that wear out. The other is the tensioner pulley for the accessory drive belt but if you haven't replaced it yet and your mileage is that high i would look for it soon. Mine went at about 94k and gave a very distinctive sound and the pulley was jumping all over the place. |

Any help to get the pully out? I have the alt off the libby and have a wrench hole in the center that allows me to put a 10mm deep socket at the alternator rotor to hold it, but I already broke a 1/4" ratchet and an adapter from 3/8" to 1/4" trying to get it loose and that the darn thing won't even budge. Advise please!!!! ![]() |
