Lately, mine does the same thing. I attribute it to an aging AC system with increasing resistance through the Orifices and such. It does not surge exactly, but the RPM will drop by 100 or so when the AC kicks in, and is very noticible when parked.

Some time the motor stop.
I have change motor oil, fuel and air filter, clean the map sensor.

The problem have start when it starting to be cold here in québec , Canada (below 10 Celcius), I can't imagine when it will be -30 celcius

No motor light....

Thanks

Alphred,

First of all I would like to apologise for not returning to this post sooner and informing you on how my issue was resolved.

The issue was resolved last summer.

Per GDE's suggestion, I had the dealer perform the ECU software update which included the necessary glow plug update prior to installing the tune. The dealer software update solved whatever was causing the engine to surge.

The ECU software update was performed by the dealer prior to installing the GDE tune and I don't have any information as to what the cause of the engine surge was. All I know is that the vehicle began to perform 110% better soon after. My mileage went up to 25-26 mpg after the software update and to 27-29 mpg after the tune.

It also solved the issue with the temperature gauge reading low. After the dealers software update my temperature gauge indicator began to creap closer to the halfway mark.

Get the latest ECU update from the dealer first and you will see that it will make a world of difference in how much better she performs. If you enjoyed how the beast ran before the updates, you will love her even more after.

The cost was $95.00.

Bring the car to the dealer, tell them you want the latest ECU software update.

I believe that only the dealer can scan the ECU to find out what software version is installed.

I do not remember what the latest number for the update is, maybe someone else can chime in.

Not quite :SOMBRERO:
VAG-COM can report part numbers of the TCM and ECM and the right most two positions contain the software version.
Here's a screen dump of mine.
Image
The part numbers are in the two lines that start say "type 04"
The first one is the ECM
The second one is TCM

i have a 2005 Jeep 2.8 CRD ... with simlar issue.
It does the same thing, but I dont think the AC on or off makes any difference on mine , but honestly I dont think Ive had the AC on when its happened.
But i will test with it on and off see if there is any change .
it usually idles around 800-850rpm and it jumps up to maybe 1000rpm, a few times i have braked hard the engine actually stalled at the lights.

I have only had this car a couple of months so still working out a few issues.
One thought that crossed my mind was that the intercooler may have a buildup of oil in it and stopping hard restricts the flow of air , or there is something up with the transmission , perhaps a sticky control valve, was going to give the transmission a service change the oil and filter and see if it gets any better.

but i don't know have not figured it out yet.

An engine stalling after first starting it cold and driving it a few hundred feet and trying to come to a stop can be a problem in the front pump of the transmission causing the torque converter to lockup and stall the engine. Several on LOST have reported this issue and I also experienced it myself when I first purchased my Jeep CRD back in 2013 before having the front pump replaced along with the TC. :(
