I recently changed the fuel filter and have 2 problems

1. On start up I get an occasional water in fuel light which last a few minutes and then goes out
2. When I dont drive the jeep for a week or so, I have a long crank time to start.

Any suggestions?

Can't comment on the light but if you are cranking to get it started likely you have a fuel leak or an air leak. The fuel pump will purge a little air in the line but not a lot. If it happens as explained every time I would sugges that before you encounter that starting situation the next time pop the hood, pump the primer 5 or 6 times and see if it still cranks. If it doesn't then I would be checking to see that the filter is tight, that you don't have two of the rubber gaskets on the nipple, that if you removed the hoses you got them back on all the way and the clamps tightened, I would check and make sure the plug on the bottome of the filter is tight and I would check to make sure there are no leaks at the heater.

If you have drained your filter and there was no water, you are fine. Every time I wash the engine compartment out the WIF light comes on for a while. I have also had it come on when I go through deep water or very heavy name.

I had this issue too and mine would run then shut off after a few minutes too when I changed my filter in september. do as said above and be sure to purge the air. I had to purge a few times to get it right.
