Is there an alternative source of idler pulleys that fit the crd? other than mpa or a dealer.

Also if one replaces their alt decoupler pulley and the tensioner is still jumping, and the tensioner pulley seems rough, should i replace the tensioner arm or just the pulley?

Thanks.

Do you have a local import parts place that carries VW parts? I think someone mentioned some of the rollers are the same. Worth a try.

If you have a Motion Industries near you, check them out. Bring a pulley and they can look in their stock or in their catalog to try to find an equivalent.

If that would be true I could probably get them, I have my doubts about it though. :D

If someone can come up with a part number or something to go on I can check it out. I can get parts for most European makes.

I bought mine through Mopar parts america for 56.29 each. BTW, the same pulley is used on the tensioner, but you must reuse the fastener bolt. The pulley will come with a new reverse threaded bolt for use as an idler pulley. You can also remove the pulley, and repack the bearing with a good high temp grease. They are rubber sealed, and I repacked my old ones (which were still OK) to use a spares.

I have a friend who uses Audi pulleys (same specs) and they work just fine. Cost him $20 at his local auto parts place.

I'll jump in here and answer for Glend!!
This is from the catalogue but it does not list the OEM#
AUDI
A3 1997 to 2004 - APG, A , 1.8L 4CYL DOHC Including Turbo
Pulley EP101
OD ID Width Type
70 17 26 FLAT

Try the link and scroll to the last few pages for flat pullies. There are other listings for the EP101 pulley.

I found them at napa for 30 dollars each, pn 36141, i ordered three. 76 mm x 17 mm x 22 mm

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail ... 258763378#

I wish i had had the audi part number.

Motion Industries did not have them, or anything close to them, based on measurements.

There is no way in hell that you can remove the bearings from the pulleys that i have, thus you can not re pack them.

I did find bearings, however you have to drill the rivets and then re bolt or rivet them, no thanks.

Yes that is the one: EP101

and its a proper bearing too not one of those cheap pressed metal ones.

Precision Parts is located downunder (not too far from Sydney) - which may explain why it's so cheap here.
