I've got a Wix transmission filter kit on order from O'Reilly and it shows that it comes with a pan gasket. Any one use a pan gasket on their CRD with success, or should I just use RTV? Thanks

I used the gasket supplied with the filter with no problems.

Some Old Giezzzzers much older than me and others, like cork gaskets for some mystical reason that is beyond the Laws of Physics.
I use RTV after I clean it off with great success.

If anyone wants to buy my cork gasket I got with my Wix kit from O'Reilley, send me a PM, I will only charge S&H.
That way I don't need to buy a garbage sticker.

Use ultra black RTV and you wont have problem. Manufactures don't use cork anymore because of leaks sooner or later.

I have a gasket on mine. Zero leaks. RTV is all fine and good until it comes time to change the filter again. Then you have a mess to clean up before you reseal it.

Gasket is the way - wrong way to go about things.

The RTV wasn't too hard to remove. I scraped what I could get off, and then use a wire wheel on my drill (pan only) and got the rest off. Put a bead of RTV on the pan and let it skin over for about 15 minutes, then torqued the bolts to 110 "/lbs. So far no leaks. I did make one of those Mason jar vacuum recovery bottles and sucked out 4 quarts of fluid before I dropped the pan, made it a whole lot less messy...didn't even spill any
