Post subject:  Air compressor install location

I am looking for a good location to mount my onboard electric air compressor and 2.5 gallon tank. I had it mounted in the engine compartment on my TJ with the tank underneath opposite side of the muffler. The CRD doesn't seem to have room under the hood but maybe I am missing a clever spot. My compressor is about 11"x4"x7". Any ideas? I would rather permanently mount it instead of having to store inside and connect to battery when needed.

I'm gonna move my Warn compressor (the single piston one) from my truck to the Libby. I was just going to put it in the back in the cab. No tank. I can't imagine anywhere else to put it.

What use does an air compressor have in our CRD?

It's nice to lower tire pressure offroad. Then, pump it back up for the pavement. I like 25 psi for the TJ offroad. Also, ARB diffy lockers are air actuated.

I would go down to about 12 PSI with the 35s I had.

I use it for everything. Jeep tires, bike tires, dolly tires, air mattress when camping, and even cleaning with an air nozzle.

Did you ever figure out a good mounting location? What kind of compresser are you using?

It never made it in the CRD because I couldn't find a good location. It actually got installed on my land cruiser this past week.
