We are investigating the desire for a personal flash tool preloaded with the GDE tune(s), that can allow the customer to switch between tunes and read/clear faults. The cost of the tool will start around $350 and up if we can source something with more capability.

Is this something that would interest anyone?

Thanks,

GDE

I'm in. My dealer has a penchant for flashing my ECU every time I bring it in. I would like to be able to replace my tune and also read codes (will it work with other vehicles?). Will you then offer a subscription service for different tunes? I'd like to try the Hot tune but be able to drop back to my Eco tune if the wife starts burning through tires

I had not thought about it that way, as I try to keep my KJ away from the dealer service guys. But I admit it would be useful to be able to reflash my ECU if I lost the Tune in that way, especially as I am a long way away from GDE.

You can definitely count me in. I'm already a satisfied eco tune customer. This versatility sounds perfect.

So if I'm reading this right, you will (if you can get the right programmer) sell the programmer with the tune already in it, for us to flash at home, thereby removing the need for us to send you our ECUs? I assume that we could send you the programmer to be updated whenever the tune is updated? That sounds terrific, and possibly cheaper (as we also get a code reader)than just sending you the ECU:) Plus the ecu is not at he mercy of the post/courier service :D

Will this also work for the TCM program? (I know - being greedy :D )

Given that - like Glend, I'm a long way from GDE this sounds like a superb idea!

Wish you had done this a long time ago. I had to remove modules and ship them back and fourth at least 6x.

Count me in too :jester:

Could after purchashing a new flash it be downloaded onto a pc then transfered to the device for loading using USB or a flash card?

So with the tuner, we could put the ECO tune, HOT tune, and factory tune on our KJs any time we wanted??

If so, I'm in.

So the tool would be 350? and the tune would be 450? for a total of 800? and would that come with a stock tune also that can be changed between either your eco or your hot tune when the user feels like a change or wants to play?

yeah, I'm interested.
An affordable programmer that interfaces with the OBDII port with ecm and tcm tunes would be perfect. That is how most of the diesel "downloaders" like Bullydog, MADS(smarty), Diablosport, etc... do it.

I would be interested. Any discount for those of us that have already purchased the eco tune or hot tune?

If you ever decide to make tunes for the 02-04 2.5/2.8 exports, I'm in!

If the programmer actually read all of the codes and diagnostics correctly, I along with many others would be interested. Many of us have "cheap" or slightly higher end code readers that either hiccup when connected or cause the ECU to hiccup when connected for a while. Mine (Innova 1303 I think) will monitor real time data for a while, but lose the connection after a few minutes. For the relative amount of dealer distrust we have, it would be worth it to many if we just avoid them altogether. I'm really looking forward to the TCM tune. If things weren't tight at the moment, I'd already have it.

Of course this happens when you have my ECM and TCM. I am interested! You guys will still have me wanting the turbo kit.

The flash tool currently only works with the engine tunes. It will read the stock file, which is emailed to us, converted, then we email back an ECO tune or HOT tune or BOTH depending on what the customer wants. Then it is easy to swap between tunes and it reads/clears codes. There is no monitoring function unfortunately. The unit requires a PC connection for the software interface.

Once we source these units, the exchange option may disappear and just have several flash tools to ship to-from customers. The flash tool alone will be $350, +$450 for (1) tune, +$100 for second tune. Current customers would only need to buy the flash tool and we can provide a file of the stock tune.

Hopefully this service can help people looking for added flexibility.

Hi Tony - I think that's the one Glend has got for Australia. I don't know if there's a difference between the Aus export KJs and the European export models though.

One of the few downfalls to owning Macs is things like this. I should really buy a cheapo PC for such things.
