My CRD sat for three weeks. Upon starting all was well, until we drove about three miles. ABS system went nuts. Now the lights come on and off and the ABS is active every stop (except when it disables itself due to error). I'm speculating the wheel speed sensor may be crudded up from rust on the rotors due to sitting. Does this sound plausible? I haven't even looked at them yet. Any suggestions are welcome. I looked at the FSM and they don't look too bad to get to. Any problem with pulling either the 40A ABS pump or the 20A ABS valve fuses to disable the system until I get it figured out? Chester |

Are you getting trouble codes with it (CEL up)? |

I only got a CEL after I pulled the ABS fuses. The ABS, ESP/BAS, and the Jeep sliding lights would come on intermittently and go off usually within a couple minutes of driving. I took it to my mechanic because my code reader wasn't telling me anything about the ABS system. It ended up being the right rear wheel speed sensor. $65 for the part and labor and it's good to go. Pull the codes. You'll probably have a right rear wheel sensor code. Its a 1 minute job to replace the sensor but odds are the sensor is good and you have a bad wire feeding the sensor (mine did and was intermitten for a long time). |
