Well the CRD went down the road today with a new owner. Sold quicker that I though it would. Hope he has good luck with it. He's gonna need it. Here's a picture of my new ride. Bought and paid for.

First thing I thought of on seeing that image too ATXKJ - Moosie isn't gonna see more than 12mpg out of that beast unless it is being towed downhill. Although, the mad scientist in me says that would be a GREAT candidate for a 4BT or 6BT swap. Big old beefy everything, not the computer controlled nightmare that is our CRD or even my 97 Grand Cherokee. |

My buddy has a Ramcharger. Gets 7 MPG with the 5.2L V8 and full-time 4x4. OUCH. |

How hard are you pushing them? I just got back from a 200 mile run with it we got 14.6mpg. Yeah would love a cummins under the hood. Easy to put gas in the tank when you have a $0.00 car payment for now. I'm Gonna mis the CRD, BUT not going to mis the choppy ride, or wondering what was going to go wrong next. |

Far worse than the fuel economy is knowing that we won't get to see his avatar any longer. |

Maybe the first thing you should do on that thing is to fix the broken odometer so you can accurately calculate the fuel economy. |

Speaking of 4BT... Anyone ever driven / ridden in a vehicle with one? I've heard noises that it might be a vibration machine. The 4BT was a thought I had for my 97 Grand Cherokee (still is a thought for that vehicle) so does anyone have any thoughts / hints / warnings about it? The center console computer in the GC has partly failed now, so I'm starting to be less impressed with the electronics. If I can set things up to where the locks still work and the windows still run... I don't think there is anything else that the computer is doing that I would mind losing in a re-do of that body. |

Geordi, Ever ride in a bread truck. A lot of old Grumman's had the 4BT. I almost bought one for a camper, to lug my boat to the ocean for night fishing for stripers.. Instead I bought a CRD. R |

Moosemeat, were your payments that much that is was worth cutting your mileage in half? Any ways, nice Dodge, a rugged truck, that feels and drives like a truck, good luck with it. |

flyman I'd have to say YES. Was more than just the payments that made us decide to sell it. It Killed both of us to take long trips in it, my back and neck, and my wife's hips ached for weeks after our last Jaunt back east to PA. And at this it was just a better choice for us. And I sold it to a dealer whos mechanic looked it over and missed everything obviously wrong I'll miss the MPG but diesel is ~$0.30 a gal more that gas here. |

Not every one has a pocket full of money. Alot of people buy only because their credit will allow it, I guess that is why we are going into a depression? Moosemeat, thanks for not dumping your debt on the American people. |

I only buy when I have to, b/c there is a reason to need a replacement vehicle. I sold my second car (purchased with a loan) when my sister wrecked it (fixed then sold) and bought a Lincoln outright. Only sold that car when parts started getting expensive, that is when I got my Jetta TDI. Payments suck, let me tell you. Oh, and I've never ridden in a bread truck... so really - how does a 4BT run? unbalanced? Smooth? Rattles the fillings out? |

A really nice classic vehicle you have found there, they are scarce around my neck of the woods. Like, trying to find a nice Jeep Grand Wagoneer. A lot can be said about not having a car payment, it's a good feeling! |
