So what performance exhaust upgrades are avalable for the CRD? Who sells them? Are they worth it?

Bolt on kits do nothing to get rid of the 2 1/8" restriction behind the cat. If you opt for the bolt on kit, you still need to deal with the choke flange.
Find a good welder or exhaust shop who can weld stainless. Cut out the stock muffler and go with a 2 1/2" SS Magnaflow or 304 SS straight pipe if you live in the salt belt. 2 1/2" Flowmaster or a glass pack is OK elsewhere. Then have the choke flange opened up or eliminated, its like neutralizing a Terrorist, there are lots a ways to do it right as long as you do it.

Good luck

Not sure about Magnaflow or the others, but Dynomax offers a complete kit (high flow muffler, tailpipe, adapter) that also eliminates the neck down restriction after the Cat. It is a 2.5" system all the way thru. I have seen these complete sytems listed for around $235 and Dynomax now has a $75 rebate offer on cat back systems good until the end of August.

That being said, I just cut off the cat and installed pipe in place of it and also installed a 2.5 flow thru muffler and new tailpipe. But then, there is no emissions testing done in Iowa.

We have no emissions here either. Maybe I'll have to just amputate. I'll have to do some research to see who sells the Dynomax kit

Jeg's auto parts and Summit Racing both have the kits. I think Napa and the other parts stores either have them or can get them pretty quick. I think the best price was at the Summit Racing site

though you may be able to do better elsewhere.

I have to update my previous post regarding the Dynomax kits. The replacement adapter also necks down after the cat then opens back to 2.5". Took a look at one today. So, the best thing I could suggest would be using just the muffler and tailpipe from the kit, if you bought one. Then do similar to me in that I just cut off the cat and put in a 2.5" pipe in its place straight back to the muffler.

I just swapped my exhaust for full cherry bomb kit and all i have to say is wow. Sounds like i got a baby V-8 under the hood. I have a nice low rumble at idle and a really nice rumble  when taking off then it drops to about the stock tone. Only had it on a day but so far i am loving it. Ready to see how my MPGs look next fill up.
