I have read a few posts about parts being delayed, so I have a quick question. Our Jeep and engine WAS used in Europe right? Is it still being used in Europe, or do they have new engines? Does VM still make the 2.8? Our transmission is still used here right? I am about to spend $450 on a paint job to fix three stone chips and the rear tail light rusting problem, and I want to be sure that these parts ARE sitting on shelves somewhere in the world. I mean, my friend owns a Delorian and he can still get parts from Texas even though most of the equipment was destroyed by the British government. I too will be needing the timing belt next summer as well as everything else we've talked about. I've been pretty lucky so far. My Jeep has been rather sound. |

Here is a part for a 19 year old Yugo: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carco ... ttype,1744 I haven't seen any Yugos on the Road in a long time, but the parts are available, must be some people collecting them. O'Reilly is adding more for our CRDs every month, they even list a water pump. |

I just went through this sourcing a fuel injector, and it isnt easy. Though as a person who has restored vehicles the parts are always out there and we are lucky to have a vigilent and helpful Jeep community. The issue is ............. can you get them when you want them? If the Jeep is your only transportation I would contemplate a. buying something else or b. another car. |

VM still makes the VM2.8L diesel, and they are still being installed in Jeep Wrangler (JK) CRD and Cherokees CRD (KK Liberty to you). Toledo still ships them out as Export Only models - to bad for you guys. There are some differences in VM 2.8 engines depending on the year produced and the fuel injection system. For example, the 2007 VM 2.8 produced 400nm of torque in the KJ whereas the 2008 engine produced 460nm in the JK. Parts are easily available in Europe, and us Aussies are tending to buy our VM parts from the UK because of Chrysler Jeep Australia pricing policy in Australia seems to be based upon us pulling Chrysler Jeep out of the Global Financial Crisis by marking up parts by 200-300%. |

i have searched the site and not really found an answer but for the US CRD owners, what is the best place to find engine replacement parts like pistons, crankshaft, etc? is it best to just buy a parts motor or something? would a dealer be able to order those individual parts? |

Well, at least for maintenance items, just buy them ahead of time. I only have 84k on my CRD but I'm going to start collecting the timing belt parts now in case things are backordered. |

Chrysler parts in general are going up, way up I'm on a VM group that has many Land Rover and jeep owners on it. Mostly older ones and they are not having an easy time getting parts and on top of that there seems to be differences in parts for the same engine
