I ordered a water pump off of ebay, and it has a crack in it, I did not know it was cracked when I ordered it. :furious: :5SHOTS:

I am not sure how this thing goes in but I bet the crack would not be good, but just want to get input from you guys that have put one of these things in.

I have not installed one yet but I wouldn't put that in mine.

You got hosed. ebay will resolve the problem if the seller wont they did it for me a few years ago. I suspect the water pump was pulled from the scrap heap and sold on eBay. People who pull that crap should be stopped, no excuse for selling junk. :2cents:

The arm with the crack supports the viscous heater and should not be used in this condition. You could get a shop to TIG weld it to strengthen the arm back up. With that damage, I would be leary of the pump assembly itself. Does the water pump impeller look good and bearings seem tight? If so, a weld job would suffice.

Tig welding may fix the crack, but the case might distort and then the alignment might be off and cause timing belt tracking problems, there is no way to know. Also the mechanical seal may be damaged and leak or the grease in the bearings cooked out. If this was an antique car, you could press out the bearing cartridge with a driver that goes through the impeller, carefully remove the seal, weld it up. Build a jig to hold the housing with the bore as reference, reface the mounting surface, reassemble, cross your fingers and hope the seal does not leak, and use a thicker gasket. Since the CRD is not an antique car, this would be an exercise in futility.
I would get a refund and not pay the freight back, the item is defective and should be shoved where the sun don't shine.

Looking at the pictures, you can tell it was used and abused. They didn't do a good enough job cleaning it up. Probably removed from a wreak and why it is that way. Wreaked! :dizzy:

One question, how do you know it is not used??? whats the point of replacing waterpump if it is not new (unless yours is bad and its not just preventative maintenance whil doing timing belt). That's scary to me. I got mine at moparonlineparts.com. I do not know of any aftermarket companies yet that make a WP for us. Best to stick to the dealership on those I guess :( Sorry to hear you got ripped off. Good luck getting refunded, hppe for the best for ya.

It is used, 26,000 miles on it, but I was going to have it reman'd through cardone.

He wanted to see pictures so I sent them to him. Looking back at the auction pics I can see the crack, but just barely. Looks like he framed the pictures in a way not to show it. He described it as a "used, but excellent and working condition water pump"

Here is the auction page. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0506912199

When I ordered I only saw pic at the top left. I ordered it at work (shhhh) and our web filter block online storages site, including photobucket, which is where the other pics on the page are hosted.

I am not crazy about the idea of welding it back up, even though I am going to have it re-manufactured. I think I will just find someone on here to buy a used on from once this first batch of back-ordered water pumps comes in, and they have a chance to get their new one in.

Well, the first thing I would do is leave Negative Feedback. You can challenge them as misrepresented...

Well I got a brand new water pump in yesterday!

This one I bought was not only cracked, but missing the housing on the back side.

That being said, if for some reason you would want this pump, I am selling in on ebay with 100% (minus MissionFish fees) of the final price goes to the Tennessee Chapter of the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
