Howdy. At 66500 Just changed the rear and front differentials and transfer case. It is safe to say they have never been changed. Thought they would have been by previous owners, guess not. The bolts for the skid plate are 16mm not 15 and the rear bolts only have to be loose so the plate can slide out. Mine slid out easily after I broke the 2 front bolts. Ooooops. Another project to the list. When I first changed my engine oil there was a hydrolic filter where the filter was supposed to be and I'll bet the dealer used regular oil of some kind, cheap. They did offer several $4.00 oil changes. Get the picture. The dealer is a F O R D Dealer with a sister JEEP Dealership. Ya would think they would know better. Ah, the all mighty bottom line. When you get a used Liberty, it would really be wise to change all the fluids as soon as possible. Get the gook out. Unless there is documentation that it has been changed before and done right. Get it changed. Let's keep the USA, One Nation Under GOD ! |

Never hurts to drop the oil pan either and clean it out every once in awhile and clean it with some parts cleaner and reinstall it with a new gasket. Also and easy out will pull those bolts right out without any issue. And also when you do the diffs I also like to take a moment to and clean the rear everytime and the front every other just to make sure my gear teeth still look good. |
