I am at 110k miles and need to change my timing belt and I want to replace the water pump while I am at it. I have a few options on what to do, just want a little feedback from you guys

Cardone- I have lined up a used water pump once it is pulled which I can take to O'Reilly auto and have them sent it off to Cardone to be re-manufactured.
Crown- Sells what appears to be new pumps, but of what quality.
Mopar- Get on the list and wait through 3 or 4 more delays on the backorder list.
Don't replace it- if its not broke, why bother

My mechanic just removed mine today and installed a new one. At 118k, it was just beginning to leak around the ring. It was just beginning to leak and did not (yet) screw anything up. THe pump looks good to the naked eye. I waited and am going back to a Mopar replacement which I believe is actually a German part. This water pump, as others have mentioned, is an over-engineered marvel in both mounting, placement and actuation.

Also, the idler pulleys on both the serpentine belt and the timing belt worked BUT you could also here the beginning of bearing failure. So, do't cheap yourself out on this repair. It is time and money well spent to replace what should be replaced going into the water pump and coming back out...my :2cents:

BTW: I am really looking forward to this repair being completed. This may be the first time in 80k miles that my CEL will be turned off thanks to the GDE Eco tune and glow plug also being replaced while she's temporarily immobilized...

Good advice from the man who I am going to buy the used pump from, if I go that route. Just the more I think about it, the more I think I should get a new one. I will wait for a few more people before I chime in.

The timing belt, idlers, and tensioner are all at the house, and I am picking up the serpentine belt today.

I would like to here from the people that voted "Don't replace it- if its not broke, why bother"

I voted mopar because you are paying someone to do the timing belt.IMHO you don't want to chance a dubious rebuild or failure of the original and have to pay twice. If you were doing it yourself I wouldn't change it until 200k or it failed.

I changed my wife's TDI at 120K.
If mine goes another 38K as I plan, for me 100K is close enough to 120K to not go through the trouble of having to deal with a timing belt again until 200K. If the pump pukes before 100K, I will use what ever I can get providing it is not junk.
One plus for the Mopar is that they source from VMs source, much better than had they sourced the water pump them selves.
With a rebuilt, you do not know what you are getting unless you know who is doing the work. Some rebuilt stuff is great and other is junk.

Thanks for the input guys, I ordered a Mopar pump from www.moparonlineparts.com yesterday.
