I got a personalized invite from the dealer where I bought the Liberty (I know everyone gets these) for an exclusive sale on the new models. Colored envelope, no dealer identification, hand written by a lady; almost made the wife go hmmmm? Then I got the phone call. The salesman said if I ever want to sell the diesel, don't sell it to anyone but him. It seems he gets asked for these all the time. Keep your Jeeps lads. If you sell them, don't sell them cheap! |

Diesels are sure rare to come by. I also noticed KBB value kinda stuck for the last 18 months for both CRD and gassers. |

Krazzy stuff ![]() I would not hold my breath, with DPF and urea injection, those diesels are going to get more expensive and the MPG advantage is going to dwindle away. You might be better off to build your own, rather then wait. |

Slowly but surely the American public is starting to see what Chrysler-Fiat really means. And that is more than waiting for the Fiat 500 to arrive for sale here. It means other Euro ideas and generally accepted notions that are coming here. And what other main "Euro" idea comes to mind? You got it, Diesel! Then thats where your friend or relative or neighbor (or you) who is a Jeeper (since "Jeep" is very American) remembers "Jeep has/ had diesel models". Go look at Pirate4X4 and there are numerous diesel motor retro fit projects into TJs. And a real smart Jeeper like you states Liberty has a diesel. And now people are starting to ask their dealers for CRD KJs. I think also I will keep my 4 cylinder 29MPG 295ftlb VM motori for a while too. Roland |

Epa regulations are different for smaller and larger engines Lets face it, DEF does not cut performance as much as EGR. If I am forced with a gun to my head, to chose one evil over the other (reminds me of what I have to do on 11/02/10 ![]() ![]() Current configurations of DPF are all Bean Counter Engineering designed with EPA/Acid Head Hippies Specifications influence. Performance Trans/Converter Suppliers like SunCoast and engine performance suppliers want others to come up with performance DEFs so there is still a market for their products. The Bean Counter Engineering Designed to EPA/Acid Head Hippies Specifications DEFs are already causing problems on EMS equipment when they kick into Regeneration mode in the middle of an emergency call and make the EMS vehicle use less. Of course we all know what can happen if the ambulance or Fire Truck gets sidelined on route to the emergency. Reminds me of the first generation of airbags designed to the Specifications of Ralph Nader, that killed people weighing less than 165 Lbs. Since people (mostly thin Women) who weighed less than 165 Lbs buy cars as long as they are alive to use them, the Marketing people in the Auto industry over ruled the Bean Counters and got approval to design and use less deadly air bags. Anyone know how many people under 165 Lbs were killed by Air Bags built to Ralph Nader's Specifications ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
