I sent an email to BorgWarner Beru Systems:

VM Motori 46 07 2009F (as per Bosch cross reference but may be for the European 11v models)

7 volt
M10x1.0mm
total length = 130mm
tip length = 26mm
I do not know if the original Bosch glow plug has two heating elements but I do know that the controller has a pre-heat and a post-heat cycle.

I am an active member of LOSTjeeps.com and I know that there are many people that would be interested to know if you have a product. I am happy to test the viability of any product that matches.

The Beru glow plug systems are the best on the market. However, they will most likely give you the cold shoulder as it would cost them well over 100k to develop a glow plug to the exact dimensions for the VM engine. Not to mention their glow plug controller would require a jumper harness to mate with vehicle wiring as it is designed for the Bosch glow plug relay. And they would need to work with Chrysler to modify the ECM tune for the Beru system. On the bright side, the newest VM engine is moving to Beru as the future glow plug supplier. Of course, that is a V-6 and won't be here in the state until the 2013.5 model year.

X2 wishful thinking, but I agree Beru is not going to do a thing for an engine that is considered obsolete in the US. If you can get Beru to make GPs for the Lost members, we will have to bow at your presence. :ALONE:

Ahhh, good point. I forgot to mention the harness connection type. And seat angle for that matter.

As far as I have seen, they seem to have other plugs with the same connection type. Their fast metal plugs heat nearly as fast as the ceramic ones from a graph I saw a week ago (but my memory fails me). My plan is to use the existing Jeep's controller (7v) and flash. They may already have a close match; that is what I am hoping for. You can't do a search on their site for specifications, only vehicle.

To all others:
Positive replies may promote a response from Beru.
If you have already bought the upgrade, this could still be another option down the road for you. Keep the original gp module and GDE flash for the 7v system.

The only downfall I can see is the availability of 7v controllers but the new 5v has the same part number anyway so I am not so sure that they are different. Besides, used 7v controllers will be abundantly available for stock up :mrgreen:

Also I know that the new gp package from Chrysler may go the same way as what happened to the VW crowd. That is why many Jeep owners are just watching for now. :POPCORN:

Not the correct voltage but they make hundreds of different gp's and some are 7volt.

The "fitting depth" is very critical as this positions the hottest part of the glow plug tip to have the correct protrusion into the cylinder head. This is based on the spray angle of the fuel injector and ensures the fuel is right next to or spraying directly on the glow plug (the variance here depends on glow plug type and emission issues).

It was worth a try. :(
I will send a note to NGK as well. But before I send one, can anyone confirm the fact that the 80041 has a seat angle of 63°.
