Hey Guys, I just bought a 2006 CRD limited loaded, get it tomorrow and want to know if there is anything i need to check/change as soon as i get it. This will be my first jeep and I am really excited! A little more about it, I am located in Regina Canada, the jeep has 250,000 km (155000 Miles) and has been babied more than any other vehicle i have ever seen. All recommended maintenance and then some on this thing. I am getting it tomorrow as soon as the jeep dealer here is done changing the timing belt. I paid $10000 Canadian for the jeep (approx 9750 USD). These jeeps are SUPER rare up here and this one was a steal from what i could find. But anyways, Anything in particular that you guys recommend to a new CRD owner? Thanks |

Best advice I can give a newbie is to read my newbie guide here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54207 That should take you through the basics of the vehicle. Otherwise just keep reading and learning. |

Make sure the timing belt has been changed. If not, it needs to be changed ASAP!! There have been reports of them starting to fail at 140K miles. |

I would get the water pump changed while the timing belt is getting replaced. Oil pan heater is nice to for those bone chillin' prairie mornings. |

I'm guessing the dealer will probably change the timing belt while they have it to change the timing belt Other common wear items you might want to check: - suspension ball joints - softened/rotted Intercooler hoses (warm and cool side) - leaking fuel filter head (check for telltale diesel residue around the filter gasket) - proper operating temperature (just under midline on the gauge). Any lower indicates a likely early failure of the thermostat. Other than that, as Sam said, read up and keep learning. Dan |
