Has anyone gotten this message? The last few times, upon initial start up the odometer "chimes" and flashes LoCoolant. I've done what any normal person would do. Shut it off and check the level which is dead on. The radiator was flushed last summer. I see no leaks and smell no antifreeze. The reservoir is filled to the proper level.
The light never chimes or comes on during driving, especially once up to temp.
I'll await your thoughts and suggestions.

It happened to me once about 25,000 miles ago. I topped off the coolant level in the reservoir but it was in no way low at the time. Stupid sensor.

There's always they "check and replace the coolant level sensor" method of repair... but perhaps I'm oversimplifying the problem :)

I'm far from a mechanic so I'm not touching anything. But, if that is the problem I'll be making an appointment.

Just had the same thing start with mine this past week (first time it's been cold since last year). Comes on after cold start and stays on for about 5 minutes (idle or driving). I have to imagine I'm RIGHT on the edge of being low and the cool temps just shrink the volume a tad.

Same here...took it to a place to flush...they could only get 7 quarts out of a 13 quart system. They didn't charge since they couldn't flush. Coolant looked good...1/2 is new...light is OUT

Kinda like Geordi. Started last winter, light would come on and then turn off when engine warmed. Level still within parameters but on the cusp of low. Ambient temps increased and problem went away until this summer. So, I guess you could say I put it off for 9 months until I did the 100k maintenance. Problem is now fixed. :seuss:

Mine started doing the same thing about a month ago. Light comes on then goes off after driving it. I keep topping it off but the light keeps coming back and I can't find the leak, i just turned 93,000 miles, it started at about 90,000. I'll have to remove the skid plate to see underneath and report back.

Been told by a mechanic that the EGR cooler lines leak at the EGR valve. This is the cause of this code on the older powerstrokes he's worked on.

Well it looks like I may have found the leak.

I noticed that at the lower left side of the plastic coolant reservoir there is a 3/8" black coolant hose that was leaking coolant around the OEM metal spring clamp.

The clamp must have lost it's strenght and wasn't able to keep the coolant from dripping out the rim when the system reached high pressure.

I replaced the OEM clamp with a small steel strap clamp and it looks like I may have solved the problem.

I'll keep you posted as to the outcome but so far so good.

Racertracer.... over and out.

Nice catch. I'll be sure to make that "mod" when I change my coolant in a few weeks. Amazing the places there are spring clamps. Darned bean counters. Shouldn't all vehicles be made to race/military quality specs?
