yikes!!! the wife Jeep is coming up on 60k miles

At the moment I think it needs

oil change..and it filters
tranny fluid and filter
brake fluid flush
fuel filter - should be fine..I have a spare on hand. it also has a lift pump
Air filter
SEGR..time to add it..

what about diff fluid? little if any towing and no off road. I think its original, but might have been changed at 30k before the warranty ran out. Don't know about the transfer case?

timing belt done..when I change the CP3..so its good for a long time..
other hoses look ok..so far..
I've done the CCV vent change..no longer run back to the intake

anything else..its time to start buying supplies I have 2 weeks before I start.

I really would like to see 'little blue' hit 300k or better..
My wife's last car hit 220k before we got the jeep and it was Pontiac Grand Am..nice car great MPG(43 when newish)..

Serpentine belt or what Jeep calls engine accessory drive belt. Gates serpentine belt Product ID 85528646 Part # K061130 Product Description K061130 MICRO-V BELT UPC 072053009767 - like $40 on Amazon is probably the same as what NAPA sells for $70. No clue what a OEM belt costs.

My CRD just passed 90,000 miles and I haven't done any maintenance upgrades yet with no major issues. However I bought mine used at 43,000 miles and would like to know is there any significant things that need to be done at a certain mile point. I've read where people have replaced timing belts, but could not find if this was because they were having issues or if they knew that it just needed to be done to prevent future failures. Any help?

Most change the timing belt at 100k as a preventive maintenance, and while they're in there most replace the water pump too. My CRD had the timing belt changed at 120k~ and my dad said he could still read the numbers on it. The water pump wasn't changed when it was tore open, but i cant understand any reasons why it would need to be.

Minus the timing belt, the crd has only had the glowplugs changed, and oil changes every 5 k and is still running perfect at 145,000 miles. I wouldn't even think about changing my next timing belt until it reaches at least 300k miles, depending how rough i am on the car compared to my dad. My dad drove 90 percent highway(120 miles a day) at 55-70 mph.

Serpentine belt
Differential fluids
Transmission fluids
Transfer Case fluids
Coolant flush

Can we safely assume regular oil changes? (5k-10k, depending on oil/tests/use) How about changing the fuel filter out every 25k or so?

All things I would've done long before 90k miles, earlier if you do much offroad or 4x4. Then again, I run on the precautionary side...

well the parts are in..
this weekend I get to change
the tranny oil and filters
engine oil and filter
diff oil and transfer oil.

filter is pretty new and a Racor
timing and serpentine both done at 52k

if I get time I might try changing some of the brake fluid

Well the thinking is that the labor is free if you're having the timing belt replaced so it's cheap ($170) insurance. Murphy's Law says that 20k after you change the timing belt your water pump will start leaking so might as well change it.

well..I got most the planned work done...

tranny fluid and fitlers..it took 5qts of atf4+
engine oil and filter
air filter
transfer case

I have the stuff for the diff..these are next..i wish both axles had drain plugs..
segr to come in the future..

I know a lot of guys have gone well past 100K on the original timing belt, but when you're gambling with a several-thousand dollar engine I don't think that's a very intelligent thing to do.

Mine is at 93K and it WILL be getting the timing belt change this Winter. It also just makes sense to do the water pump while you're in there. A bonus is that this will automatically cause you to replace the coolant with fresh stuff too. People who ignore service intervals are asking for trouble.

if my wife's jeep was pushing 100k I would do the timing belt as well...

a side note my Gl1500 is at 92K so its pushing the 100k timing belts change..yes there are 2..sound like a winter project to me..
There are no special tools needed to lock things in place and cams are keyed to the shafts..so it should be relative easy to do.

i do know that if you're change the water pump you'll the cam locking pins otherwise forget changing the water pump.
the timing belt can be done without the pins, but its PIA...been there I rent/buy the pins next time.

Those peeps would be fools then, because there is a guage to monitor temperature. There is no guage to monitor when your timing belt is going to snap and take out your $7,000 engine. :roll:
