got a CEL on my wifes crd, so i took it to a transmission shop around here that will scan it for free. P1261 they said manufacture control air/fuel metering???? we looked it up in a book and the codes didn't go that high. what could it be. the d*** stealership wanted $180 just to scan it. i took off all the sensors on the air box and cleaned them and unhooked the battery hoping the system would reset---no such luck

I searched on here for p1261 and found a few post. Give it a look yourself. Looks to be possibly a faulty #1 glow plug.

KK is right - P1261 is a glow plug although #1 is relative to whether they installed your gp harness backwards or forwards - we've had both - best thing is to follow a wire up from a gp - to a 4 way connector - pull the connector measure resistance - good is .5 to 1 ohm (some meters don't read that low) bad is commonly ~200+ ohms. - then pull the cap off the connector you think it is and remeasure - it should be open - that's a positive identification.


Oh yeah - and if you post in the main CRD section you'll get more responses - Tech - is normally for the solutions after problems have been solved.
