Hi , first time posting.
I own a 2006 Liberty CRD.
I have the GDE econofix .
Yesterday I installed the elbow mod from Sasquatch engineering...
First I love the Green diesel programming, I am getting better mileage and more power at a slight cost (a little more growl) this is not a big deal.
The elbow mod took me between 5-6 hours to install, this included me removing the glow plugs, testing them ( I had a bad one) and reinstalling them.
The mod is great, there are a few things to be aware of, I removed the fuel filter assy completely which was better than hanging it to the side.(taped plastic over hoses to prevent contamination)
Also the flow control valve, those screws (Allen heads) I would tap the allen key in hard before attempting to remove them as the head can strip and then there is trouble.
It went well and I took it for a run and it worked great , then I noticed a whooshing sound, the silicone/ rubber adaptor had slipped it's clamp.
I reinstalled it, I think the elbow would be better if it had expanded terminations so the clamps/hoses do not slip off.
Otherwise the mod is great and now I don't have to take it in for glow plugs as they are easy to replace.
Sasquatch always answered my questions promptly (thanks Seth) and I look forward to the air intake heater mod as I live in Canada.
Is this mod for everybody to tackle? possibly not.
You need quite a few tools (wobble extensions, 1/4 drive deep sockets etc etc).
My background:
Was an auto mechanic in europe since 78, (City & Guilds) also a millwright/industrial electrician
Please contact me for more info.

What is the air intake heater?

It's easy to under-tighten the t-bolts because the nylon lock-nut provides resistance when tightening. Sometimes the installer THINKS its tight but it isn't. As long as the bead-rolled ends of the tube and adapter are tightly seated against the interior of the coupler (pushed in as far as they will go) and the t-bolt clamps is seated on the correct side of the bead-rolled end (in other words, not on TOP of the bead-roll) and tightened down adequately there will be no leaks.

If you ever have any issues, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

I just noticed that we have our own CRD specific thread for What did you do to your CRD/Jeep today

I enjoy seeing the progression of everyone's jeeps, and I posted this last night on the What did you do to your Jeep today section, so here it is:

Infinite_Karma wrote:
I ordered the Green Diesel Engineering Eco Tune from Kieth on Monday. Got it on Friday, downloaded and sent Keith the ECU file on Friday night. Keith sent it promptly to me on Saturday morning (you rock Keith!), and installed the modded ECU tune.

I was averaging 19-20 MPG around town and 24-26 on the highway prior to the Eco tune.

I decided to test it out and so I drove my CRD 4 hours + to pick up new-ish tires and rims and bring them back home, and it got 27.5 MPG pulling a trailer the whole time.

I replaced my old Kuhmo Road Venture APTs (225/70/16s)...

... with the upgrades: Cooper Discoverer A/T3s - 245/75R16 120/116R

Comparisons of the two tires side by side:

Very happy.

Thanks, but nah - just being muti-faceted* - what would be nice is an entire white vinyl sheet so I could scrub ole green, apply the white vinyl, and have a white KJ like yours - I was hoping the massive lightning strike back in ought 10 would have blanched it white, but no luck - at least, if I get tired of it, I won't have to paint it green before hiding it in the grass

*facetious

Sasquatch is testing out a mod (maybe a steel elbow with a tapping for an air intake heater element) as some larger diesels have.
I talked to Seth not too long ago and he said that they are working on it.

Put an exhaust fan in the 2 car garage where they are parked. Simple accordian window box fan, with extension cord running to the over head door opener light.

Fumes would get pretty bad in the winter from cold starts and get into the house.

Today I did an oil change and finally installed a fumoto drain valve.

My CRD has been running great lately. Despite my MPG having dropped to about 21-22.

I disabled the Air Conditioning while on Floor, Defrost/Floor, and Defrost. I think I know when I need dehumidification and can handle pushing the A/C button when needed.

Did the same mod on mine right after I got the Jeep. You will really like having total control of when the AC compressor is in service...
Simple but very effective mod...
