Did the same mod on mine right after I got the Jeep. You will really like having total control of when the AC compressor is in service...
Simple but very effective mod...

Where can I get the how to for this?

I always forget that we have own own CRD specific page for "What did you do to your ... today?"

Anywho, here is what I did over the past weekend.

...

I finally got my rock rails / super-sliders installed, and I have to start by saying thank you 4x4kayak2112 / JeepMorrison for fabricating me up an amazing set.

Package arrived:

Rails broke out of their wrapping:

Then painting with Rust-Oleum Hammered (blackish color):

&
More coats (3 or 4 ish):
Image

Then I removed those plastic under-door running boards, left them off, and patched/painted with the same Rust-Oleum paint to match the rails:
Image
&
Image

While that was all drying ... I played around with some Plasti-Dip spray-paint and gave my KJ a darker face lift (angry eyes and no more chrome on the grill) ... easy to peel off if I don't like it:

Now that the paint on the rails are dry and fixed, time to mount them!:

All done (ish)! Still have a couple pinch-seam bolts that are being difficult on the passenger side, so I'll take a drill to them, but in the mean time I slapped some Grip-tape on the top of the round step bar and I'm good to go.

Thanks again 4x4kayak2112 / JeepMorrison!

Looks good!

Infinite Karma having "angry eyes" makes me want to frown all the time.

Cut my thermostat apart and cleaned more parts.

Haha! Yea I guess that is kind of ironic of me. I just like the look... for now.

The beauty of PlastiDip is that it peels right off without any real scrubbing or effort, so when I'm done with the angry-eyes, it goes bye bye.

:)

For Christmas my CRD got a Fumoto valve, a Wix filter and some Rotella T6 5w40. Can't believe temps are in the sixties today!

On new-year's eve and new-year's day I installed a few things at once (the new 4J/1G Thermostat, a Fan-shroud mod, and a New HD fan clutch & 11-bladed fan), since I'd have the hoses out of the way and things pulled.

Was a good session.

I can't say I did anything to the CRD today, but in the past week I changed out the glow plugs to Etechnos, installed a Weeks stage 1, installed the IDParts version of the stage 2, put fresh bearings in my idlers, replaced the serp tensioner pulley, and installed a new serp belt. As it turns out, trying to hold together the tensioner pulley with nuts and bolts causes major interference with the body of the tensioner.

Oh yes, I yanked the mech fan and clutch for the time being as well.

I haven't done anything today, but I installed my GDE Eco tune last night...man what a difference! Weeks stage 1 & 2 kits and fuel/water separator was on Saturday. Stant inline tstat will probably be tonight or tomorrow.

Installing an intermediate shaft and CV axle on my CRD.
I might add it's a major pain the rear-end too :SOMBRERO:

Replaced both engine mounts. The thud after sudden stop is gone. Driver side mount was shot badly, rattling and whole nine yard.

Also built an adapter for "oil pressure sensor mount". Started with turbo oil supply adapter. Cutoff metric threads on turbo side of the adapter. Drilled and tapped 1/8" NPT instead. Milled the hex from 19 mm to 17 mm.

Stant inline tstat, holy smokes what a difference a 10 minute job can make. I did it on a cold engine and lost barely a splash of coolant...just squeeze/pump the hose you put the thermostat in before removing it and the coolant pushes back into the reservoir. Just a little trick to help the next guy save some mess.
