Over the weekend, changed the oil, greased front suspension components (upper ball joint, lower ball joint, tie end rod), and rotated the tires.

The large size filter will work with a Skid Row Transmission Skid Plate, I used NAPA 1515. 1516 is the normal size.

Didn't do anything to the Jeep today but drive it, but I also drove this for a few hours.
Has similar horsepower to our Jeeps, (170) but it can pull a lot more. :D

Took it to pick up a 72" Woods 3pt mower for the tractor. I can finally cut the grass now this year.

Today I put a little container on the end of the EHM mod (finally) because I was sick of seeing little oil spots all over our new driveway.

@ATXKJ and @fliman

I've been experiencing a lot of loud rattling as I brake, or as the jeep rolls over humps and bumps while I drive. They Libby is almost at 100,000 kms and I'm suspecting the engine mounts are failing.

It's bizarre, when the engine is idling smooth I don't hear the rattling sound it's only when I quickly decelerate or hit bumps on the road.

I see that you two replaced your own mounts. Is this tough to do? (I'll youtube it right away) But I want to know what's truly involved and if this is a DIY thing or should I take it to the shop?

Also...where should I get new engine mounts? Are there better after market ones or do OEM make most sense?

Any help would be great, but I'll search through the site for more details.

Cheers from Canada!

The container isn't sealed is it? It must be well vented or you will blow seals out of your engine.

@CATCRD - nope, it's not sealed...just a catch container for the oil drips. Still vents well.

My CRD is having engine mounts replaced today, but I'm apparently having $1900.00 worth of work done now after the dealerships "complimentary inspection" found issues.

Engine mounts - $250.00 (labour only, I bought the parts on idparts.com)
Wheel alignment - $106.00
Front axel seals - $316 (leaking)
Rack and pinion gear - $1179.38 (leaking)

These prices are in Canadian dollars. I'm going to be doing the rear brakes myself.

:banghead:

Normal for a CRD
Wheel alignment - $106.00
Good price. Are you having abnormal tire wear?
Front axel seals - $316 (leaking)
Have you checked for yourself? Seems unlikely, but not impossible
Rack and pinion gear - $1179.38 (leaking)
Have you checked for yourself? Are you loosing power steering fluid?

I hate for anyone to pay for repairs they dont really need.

@flash7210

No no inspection...I trust these guys. I hate paying so much for labour too.

They said the rear brakes are almost worn through so I'll do that myself. I'm taking a road trip with my sons soon and figured it would be best to get it all done.

Cheers!

Worried about it. The dealer has had it since last week Thursday. For a torque converter. And added rear main seal to the work order because it was leaking. It's still not done. :banghead: They are calling Chrysler tech support. :?

I had a boost hose pop off while driving yesterday. I heard a loud pop, had no power, and the engine did not want to do much more than idle. I was able to pull in to a parking lot and reattach it and continue on.
This is the first issue since my new head gasket 4800 miles ago. :) Better a boost hose popping off than an oil or coolant leak.

I also hit 150,000 miles yesterday too, here is to 150,000 more.

Timing belt done this weekend. Still need to get under one more time to reinstall skid plate...We dropped a number of items during the job and always heard the clink, clink, clink, thud as it bounced off the engine/transmission and eventually hit the ground. Always until the 'thud' went missing...along with the timing port cover on the exhaust cam. Dad and I looked for 30 minutes before we gave up. Of course SWMBO offered to help and was relegated to looking for the little piece we dropped and found it in the first place she looked...even had the copper washer!

Replaced the alternator decoupler with the Litons (Goodyear) 49918. Used the "vice" method to remove the old pulley from the alternator, about a 45 minute job for me.

Drove 330 miles up to northern Michigan and refilled with 10.5 gal. Best mileage I've got in awhile. That's the first tank since Sasquatch's EGR delete installed. Noticed the oil is still pretty clean on the dipstick since I've changed it last fall. I run Amsoil.

Tonight- Alternator decoupler pulley... 122k miles. The racket came on quick and now it's gone. Ordered off of eBay along with the Lisle tool to make the job 'easy'. I also pulled the alternator off to make it more easier... I am sure it would have been a breeze if the 10mm hex insert wouldn't have split at the first pull. Ended up having to do some southern engineering to get it done. Hopefully I can get a replacement from lisle or the seller.

Be sure to let some penetrating oil soak in.

Noticed some light seepage around the rear differential cover. Picked up a gasket at NAPA yesterday and did the job today...AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140.

Today I bought a transmission controller from a 2003 1500 Dodge(5.7L), and one from a 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee(4.7L). I get to have some fun experimenting with these, but not until I drive to Maine for vacation.

I put on new front sway bar bushings and end links.
I put on new Powerstop brake pads and drilled & slotted rotors all around.
I put on new front caliper brackets and guide pins.
I put on new parking brake shoes and hardware.
I put on a new G2 Axle & Gear rear diff cover. Best feature: the fill plug is a dipstick which allows filling the diff without overflowing the fill hole.
I changed the gear oil in both diffs and the ATF+4 in the transfer case.
I flushed out the brake system until I had new clean DOT3 at all corners.
I put on new lug nuts all around.
I scraped my knuckles and bled on it.
I cursed and swore at the rusted parts and seized mechanisms.
I banged my head on it several times.
I strained several muscles turning wrenches on it.

It was a GREAT weekend!
