Changed fuel filter. That sure was easy. Didn't have to get underneath either.

Drove to work with the trailer to take home a very nice, large electrical cabinet. I think this cabinet weighs every bit of 800lbs or more. This may actually be the first time towing with it.

Had to put a new alternator on yesterday, because it just died. No warning, no flutter, no nothing. One minute I was driving along, and the next :dead:

I changed the engine mounts out. The passenger side was :dead: , but the drivers side didn't have the death rattle. They were both replaced.

I also took a picture of it.

I installed a inline t-stat, my second one failed after 40k. I'm going to enjoy the heat on my way to work tomorrow. :)

Replaced the rear driveshaft u-joints. The one at the axle was ceased causing a very bad deceleration vibration. Used the Spicer 1310-X non-greaseable ones. :). Wife is happy now. Ordered two stant T-stats from RockAuto and can't wait to get it installed.

I installed a used Webasto Thermo Top C heater to my CRD. Had to move the fuse box to another side of the battery for more space. Coolant goes from viscous heater to Webasto and then to heater core.

Last night I fixed my broken rear window regulator. Back window slid down on its own on the way home from work. Taped it up, came home and couldn't open the door. Spent an hour cursing trying to remove the panel with the door closed. Went to harbor freight and bought some trim remover tools, got it off in 2 min. I tied the broken plastic lift plate to the spring line with wire and called it good for now. Will order a metal replacement plate to fix it for real this weekend.
Oh, and now I keep a roll of duct tape in the back seat in anticipation of the other side breaking too. At least they made it to 100k unlike some others!

Installed my stant T-stat. The original has been bad since new to me. :o. Ha just thought it was supposed to be that way due to the viscous heater thats on it. :?. Silly Italians.

Edit: What a nice cozy warm ride into work. ;)

Installed new front end suspension: strut assemblies (with diesel coils), lower+upper arms, steering knuckles, clevis, lower ball joints, stabilizer bar links, new skf wheel bearings, tie rod ends. Whoever designed this car should be shot, was a pain in the butt getting access to upper arms bolts, even after removal of the accessories.

Just finished up the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and idler pulleys at 90k miles on my 2005. Also installed 2nd gen fuel filter head with new filter, Etecno metal glow plugs, Hayden fan clutch, sealed leaky intercooler with aircraft fuel tank sealant, cleaned gunk out of intake elbow and greased squeaky front swaybar bushings.

Thanks to geordi - new timing belt, new serpentine belt, replaced 2 timing belt idlers that were leaking grease and Etecno1 7v steel glow plugs. All at 49,375 miles; at the rate I'm driving now that I'm retired I wasn't waiting another 8-10 years to change the original timing belt. It was "ok" although a bit stiff compared to the new one and had some tiny checking if you flexed the belt and looked hard.

Changed rear brake pads and ended up changing out the LH Rear caliper. A week Later changed the front Brake pads. Two days ago pulled the Viscous Heater Relay.

I replaced the right front wheel hub.

On Friday while driving home from work, 4 of the 5 studs broke off.
No clue why this happened but I was able to safely pull off the road
and wait 2.5 hrs for a tow truck to arrive.
The fifth and final stud broke off as it was being pulled up onto the wrecker.

Holy crap! How did you know to pull over? As to how this could happen, did you have a nitwit at some tire place put an air wrench on them? New tires or recent rotation? Sounds like an over torque to me.

First the tire started making that woop-woop sound and i thought I might have a bad tire.
Then it started shaking really bad and I thought for sure I had blown a tire. But no, the tire was
fine.
I thought at first that the lug nuts just fell off, then I saw that the studs were broken.

If any nitwit was involved it was me. I did the rotation last time and yes I used an air impact
wrench but it was set at the lowest torque setting, same as I always do.

Maybe it was the impact wrench.
Or maybe it was the daily hot-cold weather cycles we've been having. Which may have caused
the lug nuts to get loose and the wobble of the wheel cause the studs to break.
I'd like to think I would have noticed that before it got dangerous...

Anyway, it was a freak incident and I was able to pull off safely without any further damage.

That stinks man, glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I had this happen once with a different vehicle and got to watch the wheel roll past me on the road, very confusing and disorienting. Take it from me - time to invest in a torque wrench!

Using an impact on the lowest setting means you probably didn't have enough torque on them. Heck my crappy impact doesn't have enough balls to get them to the right torque on high. I always use a torque wrench. They really aren't that expensive anymore. Loads of them on craigslist.
