On the GlowShift website, it says that their trans. temp. guage usually works by installing their probe in place of the OEM probe, or by using a "T" fitting to have both.

Where is the OEM temp. probe on our tranny? Anyone here install a trans. temp. guage yet?

i dont know the answer to your question but i believe dieselenthusiast has a temp guage installed.

I have GlowShift gauges and my probe goes into the side of the Trans pan, that is what counts since that is the temp of the oil going into the trans pickup.



For a steel pan you may want to braze or epoxy a pipe reducer bushing into the side of the pan. Also you could use a an O ring hydraulic adapter and put the nut on the inside, put on some Loctite and tighten it up.

Gotcha. So manually drilling and installing the probe is the only option.


OK, what about oil pressure? Where to you tap for the oil pressure sender? I want an oil pressure guage too. Where is the factory sender on these engines?

Put a 1/8" NPT T in where the oil pressure switch goes in by the oil filter. I got my oil supply for my centrifuge from that port and have no problems. I will put my oil pressure sender into a T on the centrifuge.

There is a transmission temperature sensor in the internals of the transmission (integrated with the range sensor I believe - according to the manual). The internal sensor reports via the comms bus to the TCM etc and I can see it on my OBDII scanner. In addition to this, I have two sensors (one in the pan and one in a T piece on the return line from my auxiliary cooler), both of these sensors feed to my ProSport temperature gauge and are selectable via a toggle switch - so I can monitor the pan fluid temperature and check the effectiveness of the two coolers by switching over to the cooler return line temperature. My sensors are provided by ProSport. The Pan sensor screws into a B&M drain tap fitting.
