Just curious, did you guys have to remove the intake elbow to change the glow plug wiring harness or is there some other sneaky way to get to them? |

I replaced my harness when I replaced all 4 glow plugs earlier this year. I don't see how it could be done without removing the intake elbow, things are very tight. Question: Why replace the harness? Mine only went bad from oil leaking onto it which "melted" the insulation. Offer: I'm a pro at removing the intake/replacing glow plugs (had to replace #3 second time this year)...if you are in the Springs, just holler and we can knock it out in 3 hours or less. If it were summer, I'd drive out to your area to do some camping and do the job for you. |

Very cool, thanks for the offer.... I just might take you up on that  I was just checking to see if there was an easy way to do it to see if my issue happened to be a short in the harness somewhere. It seemed strange to me that all 4 would be toast, but maybe I'm just that cool

You may wish to order all 3 intake gaskets way in advance. My dealer said they were backordered and I only got 2 out of the 3 gaskets needed for the job. I ended up reusing the circular gasket. I guess you can cut your own if you need to. I'd replace a glow plug control module before replacing the harness. My harness had bare wire from the valve cover leaking all over it. My rig is back to starting very easy in cold temps. For my situation, it appears when GP resistance is 1.1-1.2 ohms, they are bad and generate an undervoltage error code. Wish I new why my #3 only lasted 9 months or so. |

I don't want to take over your conversation, but have a question on the # 3 glow plug. My son has a 06 and and he broke the glow plug off at the threads. Now the question is, does it screw in to a removable intake? or does it screw into the head? and after reading here it sounds like it needs to be re flashed for voltage purposes. Is this true. And why does #3 keep burning out, is it a problem? Is there a conversion to put in a heated grid, and get away from the glow plugs. Marv. p.s.I'm new here so be patient. And i'm not a troll ether. |
