I had a '06 Limited that I unloaded prior to the pending Chrysler bankruptcy because of fears of having to deal with known problems without access to parts or tech support. Since some of this has improved, no thanks to the parent corp., I got another one. Again, a one owner '06 Limited. It has 41K miles and no sign af ever having visited a dealership for neutering. I liked my other one a lot but just love the 'pull' this one has . Since I'm pathologically type A, the engine oil, transfer case and diffs were all changed to synthetic this week. I'll wait on the trans fluid til I decide what I want to do with it. MAP sensor looded like a licorice cupcake and was cleaned. To put an end to that crap I pulled the MAF connector and put an EHM on it today. I could care less about the CEL being on but would like to know if something else is happening so I put a PM to the SEGR guys to see if one is available. I have an ORM I built but didn't ever get it on the other rig before I sold it. I bled a bit of air from the filter head, but nothing like my last one, and I don't know if the PO ever did it. Might not be a problem on mine. I've done a lot of searching and reading the site but some of this stuff isn't very concise. Here's a bunch of questions for those who have time to advise. If I don't get a SEGR I'll do the GDE eco so I can have a functional idiot light. If I do get the SEGR is there a notable advantage to MPG's to have the GDE anyways? This rig gets about 19/24 and my neutered unit got 22/27. If I could get there it would be worth it to me. My goal is to have this vehicle forever and I don't want to live through a turbo-seal-engine-grenade episode. Is this Garrett unit flawed? I would sacrifice performance for a non-variable vane unit if one were notably more reliable. Any possibility of getting oil to the turbo without sharing it with the #1 journal, and putting a monitor post turbo to allow shutdown before all oil is dumped and #1 has been starved of pressure til the problem is noticed? Any way to turn off the stupid AutoLock function on the doors? I can't see anything in the manual. The traction control on this rig ia a PITA. Functionally, I can't tell that it really does much of anything other than make a bunch of ABS noise and limit my control of slip. When I lock up I want it locked up and I'll deal with the slip, which I often want to move the tail around on snow. Can I turn it off and not cause unintended consequences? How? The brakes have way too much power boost and I'd like to turn it down so I have more 'feel' like my larger vehicles. Any way to do it? This is a system I have no experience with. Power point and seat heaters don't work. The fuses in the engine compartment are intact. This is something I just haven't looked into yet. I guess there's a fuse box in the dash? Are these on the same fuse? I did a search on seat heaters and just found threads with 'Sport' owners adding it aftermarket. The power port hting I just noticed an hour ago and haven't started to look into it. Last thing, well, so far, the PO must hav ehung onto the steering wheel with the left hand on the wheel center spoke and the paint is worn clear through to the plastic. Any advice on changing this piece? Thanks everyone. |

auto locks can be shut off at the dealer. It's a customer preference I recently had changed when mine was at the dealer. I have a so so dealer; sometimes great, sometimes not so good...but that was a simple thing to do. |

Thanks. I really hate the thought of ever letting a dealer near it. Nasty things happen like stripped oil pans, F37...... I can live with it if I have to. |

Hey, I'm new, so I don't know much. And I have a 2005. Quote: Any way to turn off the stupid AutoLock function on the doors? I can't see anything in the manual. You can do that from the EVIC. I don't think so, but that is why I bought a 2005 ![]() Quote: Power point and seat heaters don't work. The fuses in the engine compartment are intact. I thought you were asking for advice on making a Powerpoint presentation, which I am probably more qualified to help with. ![]() I can't make my seat heater work either, but then I live in Texas and dont have them. ![]() |

Thanks Utopia. I had forgotten the EVIC and was able to kill the auto door locks. I also had wondered why the headlamps stayed lit so long and was able to knock that down, too. Just found the fuse panel to the left of the steering wheel. I'll have to check those fuses for the Power 'Port' and seat heaters. ( Yup. Got the switches. Just no heat. Nice to have in Idaho this time of year.) |

Yup. Been there. It's a good overview but doesn't seem to address any of the questions I've asked, at least not as specific as I would like to know. thanks. |
