First time. Be interested to see tomorrow, have it on a timer to give me 4 hours warmup before I hit the switch tomorrow am

Done -20 without a block heater on my Liberty CRD. It started right up with only about 2 seconds of extra cranking. It sounded awful though. Unlike the 1500 watt heater I had on my VW TDI, the CRD block heater does not provide instant engine coolant heat but it does make for a quicker more trouble free start.

Hope your fuel is winterized, good luck on your start in the morning.

A VW TDI has a 1500 watt block heater? If that's true it is serious overkill.

Not stock. Its an aftermarket product from http://www.frostheater.com/ plugged in for 3 hours or so and the engine is up to operating temperatures. Instant heat in the cabin is nice! I had one on my TDI and loved it. Even plugged when parked in my garage to at least get heat on startup. TDI's have essentially no heat at idle in trafic. Sucks when -30C.

I hate winter blend though, my mileage is way off. like 15 pct. It's like the thing is just suckin on the hose. I went from 24 - 20 last fill.

I use a pro heat oil pan heater and the block heater together and it starts up like it's a 80 degree day plus instant heat in the cab. Much better on the engine to have hot oil on start up.

Frost heater kit had a 1000 watt zero start heater, I copied his design and used a 1500 watt zerostart heater. IT WAS AWESOME. On cold nights, I just needed 45 minutes to one hour to get the engine block hot and have instant heat. With the 1000 watt heater, it took longer and the coolant wasn't hot enough for heat. Overkill, not in my opinion.
