I've had all 4 windows fail. Front two got fixed under warranty, back two failed in 4th year. Thought this letter was a god send until I go to the dealership and they tell me I'm not covered as it covers only the window mount and not the track. After a lengthy discussion that lead nowhere I've decided to simply try another dealership.

Found this letter pretty funny too since I've called Chrysler Canada about this before and they told me there was nothing they could do as it was out of warranty. Hopefully the next dealership is more understanding.

Anyone got a PRT# for the Steiger part?

The guy there, Jon, is a Godsend. There are instructions to find the part you need on his website.
I agree, that extended warranty is a load of garbage!!!!

I also received yesterday a memo stating that the warrantee for window regulators has been extended to 7 years.

It doesn't warranty the regulator, motor, or any other parts. Just the plastic clip (window lift plate) itself. And then they replace it with another crappy plastic clip. It's a little better made than the old one, but Steiger's is metal - much more sturdy and solid. That's why I am so angry at Chrysler. Their warranty is a load of crapola! I just happened to be one of the first people to find that out. Yippee!!

I pulled a beauty the other day. Forgot to roll up window from previous night. In the morning the window was 1/3 open and it was snowing heavy with window now frozen. I figured if I push down on the window a bit while trying to push the window button down it would unjam and move freely. Move freely it did. I broke the window regulator in the door.

The thing I am wondering is could I have broken something other then the clip that holds the window in place? The motor still runs up and down but the window is clearly not connected anymore. I want to purchase the metal clip and install myself but if there is a possibility that I damaged other components of the window regulator maybe I should take it into a dealership for repair.

Peace.

I would try a dealership. With this new warranty out you might be in luck. The first dealership I tried turned me away, without even looking at it. Guess they were too busy for my business. I then went to another dealership in town and got great service and they gladdy replaced both of my broken regulators at no charge.

I think if you find the right dealership you'll be in luck.
