How are you going to change the filters? How are you going to clean the magnet in the bottom of the pan? IMO thats just a waste of expensive ATF 4 and time. |

I typically just zip tie clear plastic tubing to the oil bottle tip. That way I can get the bottle up above the diff and either squeeze it or let gravity do the work. |

You really should remove the cover to drain and clean the sump area of the case. If it is like mine, you will be shocked at the amount of silver flake resting at the bottom. Use a lint free rag (if there is such a thing) or squeegee the sump out with clean fingers, at least. |

I take the cover off the rear differential to drain mine so I can wipe things off. The front differential has a drain plug in the bottom and I haven't opened it any further than that. For refilling them, if you use Amsoil they sell a hand pump that fits their bottles and it comes with a couple feet of plastic tubing. It works perfectly for filling the diffs. |

I just used the cheapy Advanced Auto Parts oil pump for the inbetweens. Cost 10 bucks or so and can suck out the thicker oils such as the diffs. |

so, if you take off the rear cover, and let everything drain out...what do you put back on? A gasket, etc... |

Lubelocker also makes a nice (semi)reusable gasket for the chrysler 8.25 rear diff. If you use one, remember to get all the old RTV off (with an wire wheel or mild abrasive bit on a drill, etc). RTV is a silicon based substance used to create gaskets on just about everything from cylinder heads to differential. Most people use it because it is cheap and can be used to make multiple gaskets and can be stored to be used at any point. I prefer to used a gasket myself quicker, easier, and cleaner. A Felpro gasket for the rear is easy to get from almost any parts store. Advanced sells them for around $5 and O'rielly's are about the same. But stick with FelPro or Lube Locker and got cheap and you can re-use the Lube Locker don't know about the FelPro.http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Differential-Cover-Gasket-Felpro_5785308-P_2166_R%7CGRP60009_1197391748___ |
