So I'm biting the bullet and I'm going to put an OME lift on my CRD. But now I have to choose a tire size. My two choices are between Nokians, sizes 31x10.5x15's or 235x85x16's,(want tall &. narrow). The tires are within four pounds weight of each other but I would have to buy wheels if I go to 15" tires. The 16" tires are about 3/4 " taller. Any pros and cons to each tire size would be appreciated.

235/85-16 is a 32" tire. It's quite a bit taller than the 31x10.50 standard size, and will probably rub pretty bad especially in the front end.

You said you want narrow... 31x10.50s are not narrow. 10.50s are fairly wide tires actually.

Also, you do realize of course that only steel 15" wheels can fit the Liberty. And most steel wheels are about 8 lbs. heavier per wheel than a comparable alloy.

Having said all that, if it was me, I would run some 15 inch wheels with around 4 or 4.5 inches of backspacing and do the 31x10.50 because it'll fill out the wheelwells better and simply look better.

BFG Commercial T/A 215/85/16 are some dang fine shoes, I've run both the highway and traction tread styles (sold under the same name - commercial t/a) and they were the most affordable tires, gave me GREAT treadlife, and fit under my STOCK non-lifted CRD. Mileage on the traction style (18/32 starting tread, 16/32 on any other tire) has been a solid 28mpg at 75mph highway. These things dug me out of some deep snow, a mudpit in the spring, and are decently quiet on the highway. They also have pulled everything I have asked, as the traction style is load range D.

If you aren't looking for off-road performance, the highway style is quieter, they have the same smooth tread pattern as a long-haul truck tire. The lifespan will be about 60k, that is what I got out of my rears without ever rotating them. The front lasted to about 65k.

Tire weights... I will admit, the highway tread are load range E, and they aren't light either. However, while getting the traction tires installed, I saw at the tire shop a stack of Goodyear 215/85/16 LT tires that LOOKED a lot narrower than the exact same rated tires I was buying (shouldn't be the case!) but they were lighter physically. Would they be as tough as the BF Goodrich? I don't know, the p-rated stock tires soured me on trying anything from Goodyear without a really good reason.
