Hi. I had a similar problem with the cutting out when trying to overtake in my 2.5. I had a tuning box fitted and had a problem with the plug to the map sensor working loose (cheap plastic.) refitted it all using a small grub screw to stop it working loose all was fine for a few months, then it started again. I then removed the tuning box and its now back to standard tune. But its working fine now. Might be a worth a look?

Sounds like you could have air getting trapped in the fuel lines. I'm no expert, but there are quite a few threads about this very same behavior.

It's also suspicious that it happened right after a service. I would start with the fuel filter head. Check the plugs, prime it ,etc...

i have 2 things that might be wrong
first it was serviced and problem started after that, when it cuts out when you picking up speed hard too change up in gears or over take another
second,i had the ecu remapped 5 years ago, that also be it
will get it checked out next week, maybe even change the fuel filter again in case bad filter

Sounds like a lack of fuel regardless of the source (bad filter or air in lines). What exactly was the shop working on when you last had it in?

I just noticed that this is in CRD tech; might get more responses in "Love that torque" section.

Rear Axle?

I am thinking that they may have have touched a fuel connection near by the Tank.

Maybe they accidentally dislodged, disconencted or punctured a fuel line near the tank.

Just a thought.

will check the filter first and check for air in line and then get too check fuel line near axle

Keltick, on mine after about 150.000 Km's the white nylon 'cap' that is in the fuel filter head warped and cracked all by itself.

If you pump manually you can see bubbles of air and fuel coming out.

Check that first.

There's no spare part for it, you need to get another filter head. You can order them from Racor/Parker if you don't want to go to JEEP again. It's the big white 'screw' in front of the pump.

My jeep would stall when WOT because the egr valve was bad. When I cut that out of the system using the egr bypass box the problem went away immediately. If you notice dumping black smoke when accelerating, that could be your problem.

It didn't trip the CEL for at least a month. I think it wasn't closing all the way because of carbon build up creating a vacuum leak.

It is called the "SEGR" --- You can learn more here

Also in the sticky section.

Post subject:  Re: weird problem ?

To be clear, the SEGR is a "synthetic" bypass The Valve stays intact and the circuit masquerades itself as a properly operating EGR to the computer. Meanwhile, the EGR simply has no power, so it stays shut. If yours is stuck in any way open, that might have to be solved first.

Yes, I manually shut it. I left that part out. It's been running trouble free for the last couple years after the SEGR was installed and I replaced the failed MAP Sensor. (Just checked the new MAP sensor after 12k miles and it's still clean!
