After much soul searching and contemplation, my wife and I decided to part ways with our 2005 Liberty CRD Limited.

But it was for a 2007 Grand Cherokee Overland CRD. Fully loaded with only 18000 miles.

If anyone is interested, my Liberty is down at the Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner, WA. Ask for Tyler Foss, and let them know that Lance Zielinski referred you. It's a great rig, and it should go to a good home, preferably in the CRD family. It would make a CRD enthusiast a happy Jeeper.

I also have a Diablo MotorSports PowerPuck Extreme (with an already-customized bezel for the dial). This one:

If anyone is interested, PM me and make me a reasonable offer. I'll be posting it to Ebay and Craigslist in the next day or so. Proceeds will go to the PowerPuck for the Grand Cherokee.

I've had some great discussions with folks on this forum, and will most likely be lurking about. If anyone knows of some good WK CRD boards, I'd sure love suggestions.

Happy Jeeping, and thanks for making my experience as a Jeep Liberty CRD owner better by having this forum of people to speak with. There's some awesome people here.

Nice buy on the 07. Looks clean and low miles.

Yeah, my wife and I were VERY happy with the purchase. :-)

From what we can gather, it didn't get driven much. I suspect it was parked a long time before I got it from the dealership. The wipers had that "weathered rubber" thing going on.

I really enjoyed my Liberty as well. Gonna miss that. I really wanted to trail prep it. If I could have afforded it, I would have both now and made the Liberty a trail rig.

But having the GC isn't a bad thing. I'm very happy with it.

Nice, I am jealous. I have been thinking of doing the same lately and now even more since the liberty is having such a hard time starting after a run in with bad fuel.

Mind me asking how much it set you back?

Great Buy and here are some tip for your Grand Cherkee CRD

1. Check air intake assembly to turbo. If the seal at the turbo housing is orange, REPLACE IT ASAP with the new OEM model that has a black seal. The original orange intake leaks oil onto the swirl motor valve assembly causing premature and VERY expensive replacement.

2. Oil Changes: Use ESP oil. Pepboys has Mobil 1 ESP in 5w40 and 5w30. When adding oil as part of oil change, pour 1/2 of the oil (5 liters) into the engine via the oil filter assembly and the other 1/2 (5 liters) into the oil fill hole. Wait a full 20-30 minutes before starting oil. THIS IS PER THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL. If you add entire amount of oil down the oil filler cap, you'll experience a dry start which can damage your main bearings.

3. Install a Provent Crank Case Ventilation Filter: Almost mandatory on our vehicles. With this in place, even less risk of damage to the swirl motor assembly from oil ingested into the intake/turbo.

4. Check the airfilter ASAP! I'm lucky to get 10k miles out of a NAPA gold airfilter.

5. Don't forget to add a lubricity additive to the fuel. I use B5 biodiesel and when I can't, I add 1 gallon biodiesel to each full tank to protect the high pressure fuel pump.

6. Have you and your spouse become familar with the telltale sign of a DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration....a light smell of plastic burning/hot metal smell. If you notice this smell do not shut engine off and if you can drive it for about 10-15 more minutes before shutdown. Shutting off engine during a DPF regeneration may shorten DPF life. Try to put one long highway speed (high speec) trip on the vehicle each week to enable a pasive and if time for it an activfe regeneration. DPF are about 2 grand to replace. Using non-ESP oil will shorten DPF life!

Pros:
No need for a new TC
This sucker tows more and tows better
It starts so quick even when its below freezing outside
Traction/stability in snow/winter driving conditions is incredible.
Its fast

Cons:
10 liters of ESP oil is very expensive. I'm doing 10k oil changes. If you drive all highway, 12.5k oil changes are acceptable.
You'll want to drive it and not share it with your wife
EVIC reads about 2 mpg low.
Tires wear faster with AWD.
Its so quiet, your friends and family have to be told its a diesel.
Most 2007 models were misfueled with gasoline at the factor necessitating about $7 grand in repairs. Most are reflected in maintenance history your jeep dealer can pull/print for you.
Its a fast SUV..speeding ticket risk increases more with this vehicle than the Liberty CRD.

Good luck w/ your new purchase!

looks like a ery nice GC and a good trade up. you can still come here we have a section here for that Jeep.

I dont know about how much faster the GC CRD is but I got pulled over once. Didn't get a ticket, I wasn't clocked or got on radar, he saw me tear off from a traffic light and leave the others behind me way back. I seen him there and didn't go over the speed limit just got there quickly and got a warning for it in my Liberty

www.jeepforum.com is where I stay abreast of GC CRD issues and tips (for example the oil change procedure). There is a tech named Merlin (he's from Britain) that is very knowledgeable about our GC CRDs and a valuable source of information.

How, odd. My previous response didn't post. Thank you for the great feedback, Drewd! We're loving the Jeep so far!

Enjoy the GC CRD, its a great ride. We are fortunate that we have a Liberty CRD and a GC CRD in our fleet. If I win the lotto, my first purchase will be another GC CRD.

I've been keeping an eye out for an available one for some time now. Just happened to have the time, money, and motivation to get one at the same time. :)

I just kept looking on Auto Trader online (http://www.autotrader.com) until something was available in a distance I was willing to drive to buy.

And we're STILL loving it... LOL

One thing that I don't like is the full time AWD, how do you like it? Does it have a part time option?

I have the Quadra Drive II in my WK. http://www.jeep.com/en/4x4/how_systems_ ... ra_drive_2

From what I understand, it automatically transfers power to the axles as needed. So far it's been great. I'm not planning on drifting my WK anytime soon, so it's been a great solution so far.

At first I didn't like it but now I like it better than the 4wd system in our Liberties. My wife's Grand Cherokee's tires are fairly worn and we are saving up for new tires. Even with worn tires, I feel the GC appears to have beter traction than our Liberty that has fairly new Michelin's.

VOX,

CHECK when you get a chance that you have TSB 09-001-09 done to your vehicle. This for splash shield for your alternator. If you install the oil filler cap incorrectly (yes, it can rotate on 2 ways) it will leak oil onto your alternator causing it to fail). Guess what happened to my wife's vehicle today?

Yep, needs new alternator. $800 dollar repair from dealership. I'm having a rebuilt unit shipped for 300 bucks (2 year warranty) today.

If you'd like, IM me and I'll email you a copy of the TSB.
