Post subject:  Cetane additives for better fuel mileage

I have been adding a cetane improver to see if it will increase the fuel mileage in a 2005 CRD and it would seem to be decreasing fuel mileage with the more I put in the fuel. Is the CRD not working hard enough to require a higher cetane number ? I thought U.S. diesel fuel was not the greatest quality and could use some help. The CRD I am "testing" with does not get driven very hard with no towing.

I've used pure acetone (watch the paint) in my 2005 jeep crd and my 2003 ford ranger 3.0 got 23.8 mpg (the tail pipe is rust no black at all) from the ranger got 30.3 out of the jeep you have to buy it at sally hansons beauty supply. Most acetone has a small additive except the stuff at hansons. The mix for diesel is 1 to 2 oz. per 10 gallons and for gas its 1 to 3 oz. per 10 gallons I got this info doing a web search on yahoo the guys name is louis lapointe and I think he's a fuel engineer or fuel chemists here's the website: http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_acetone/ its a good read and maybe try it and test for yourself. crdjoe
