Thats what i thought. This is the first time i have heard of it and i never even looked. I have another place i want to call. Its the place that i actually got the jeep from. See if they try to give me the same number. Looks like i'll be buying it online most likely.

Dear Lord... if that factory TC price keeps going up it's going to catch up with the SunCoast pretty soon. :ROTFL:

I had the Euro TC installed last week. I bought the TC itself from a member here for a good price, so I was just getting a quote on the install. Labor only was $600, plus $160 for trans service, plus $$ for the fluid, meaning a total cost close to $900 without the cost of the TC. I got it done at a local shop for $560 out-the-door, and felt more confident in them than the dealer after I "interviewed" the mechanic. (Try doing that at a dealership. They seem to get insulted by the idea that you may not be blindly confident in them.)

Point being, buy the TC seperately from a non-dealer source, then have a reputable local transmission shop do the install.

What else did you have changed along with the T/C?

The only reason i called the the local dealer was thinking maybe they would have one laying around and it would be behind the newer raised prices. I still have another one (the one where i got the jeep) that i want to call and see if i can sweet talk into giving me a discount or selling the T/C at cost. Its worth a shot lol

I'll do the swap myself along with a shift kit and filter change while i have it apart. I have yet to have any of my cars/trucks/boat/motorcycles in the hands of anyone other than my own. Just called my neighbor last night to see if i could borrow his garage for a few days to do it. (mine doesn't have a concrete floor)

I had them do a trans service - new filters - while it was out. No flush, though, since the pan and the TC hold the majority of the fluid. I'll get it flushed good in about 25k or 30k miles.

So my total cost was labor for the TC replacement, filters, fluid, shop fee, and tax.

Here's the TC for $369.00 plus shipping: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ ... 3&items=10

Nothing like charging over 2x what they used to cost and have them be a REMAN... Man that peeves me.

Ok. I ordered it from the link i posted above on the night before I left for vacation expecting it to be here when i got back. I just got home today after a mess of travel in the airports due to the snow and it was not here. Checked my email and I have this message:

"Thank you for your order. The torque converter is now serviced as a re-manufactured unit. The price is the same except there is an additional $100.00 core charge for this part. Please reply to this e-mail to let us know how you would like to proceed."

I had called my two local dealers a few hours before i ordered it from this place and not one of them mentioned having a core fee. The way it looks i'll be just buying the HD version from the other trans shop that i had asked for a price earlier. It was 343.00 including and when i return the core it will be 80 less. Might not even be worth shipping the core back for that price.

Anyone ever heard of the core fee?

any part that is reman has a core fee. Half the time new is cheaper and not worth the trouble.

I emailed and asked how long i have to return the core since i was planning on waiting for warmer weather to do the change. They said i have 1 yr, so i'll probably get it from them, since that is more than enough time to allow me to wait for some nicer temps to do the change.
