Post subject:  some rust and warranty?

Have a 2005 liberty and just noticed some rust starting on the back door by the latching mechanism. Looks like it has started from the inside out. Paint is still ok but starting to bubble. Is this something that would be under warranty? I have never had to bring a vehicle in for body work that might be under warranty. Thanks.

Good luck in getting it covered. I just recently went a few rounds with the warranty manager at my local dealership regarding some rust near the third brake light. According to Chrysler Corp., the only time rust will be warrantied is when there is a rust through (ie., hole in the body panel). Minor surface rust is not covered, not even with an extended warranty.

Mine also has rust developing around the 3rd brake light. I posted about it last year but can't find the thread.

Thanks for the feedback.....I just check the warranty is 5years/100,000 on corrosion and I'm past the five years. I know a few body guys that will probably do a better job anyways. Might have them take a look and catch it early. Thanks again.

That's where mine started a few years ago and the dealer fixed it under the standard rust war. If they don't, call chrysler and complain.

His is a 05 and he stated the rust warranty is 5 years and his is past that. Yours is a 06 and might still be under 5 years since the original delivery date and you didn't say when you had it repaired :SOMBRERO:
