Last year I had an issue with broken wires to the right rear wheel sensor. I spliced a new wire instead of replacing the entire harness to fix the issue. This year I got the lights again and after a scan, I discovered that my left rear wheel sensor's wire pulled out of the plug that connects into the wheel speed sensor. Instead of buying a new harness just for one plug, I hardwired the wiring to the sensor by soldering new wires to its spades, sealng the assembly with liquid tape and heat shrink tubing. I added wire connectors (anderson powerpoles that I also heat shrunk to protect against elements) a couple of inches up the wiring so I can plug/unplug the sensor if it fails in the future. Wanted to share this failure mode with you in case you get the same dreaded loss of ESP/ABS and cruise and another thing to consider. |

Mine ('06) came with a little hook on the inside to hold it in place. See the red catch: ![]() Maybe you could replace yours with one of these instead. |

Thanks for the pic. One of the wires going to the + terminal pulled out of that connector plug in your picture. Instead of trying to find a repalcement connector, I simply soldered the wires directly to the wheel sensor. I put 130 miles on the Liberty today and she performed flawlessly. I tested cruise, ABS, and traction control on icy backroads. We'll see how long not having any dash lights lasts this time. |

Some feedback related to my recent ABS/ESP problem was a broken mount where the sensor bolts to the hub. The sensor was loose and probably vibrating causing an erratic signal. I know how frustrating this can be so check the sensors by removing them, clean with an air gun, spray some contact cleaner and fit before rewiring. |

Oh Boy Thought i had solved my ESP/BAS problem, lights are back on again permanently The red pin on the connector is broken but that shouldn't cause a problem unless it comes loose. I know if i order a new sensor that the problem will not go away, my luck so where i should i start rewiring from? Mack |

Mack 1- Innova 3160 can diagnose ABS codes. 2- Wiggling the wire can bring out the problem if it is intermittent . 3- I would remove the harness completely from the connector under the back seat for a rewire if you can't see the obvious axle wear spots. 4- Go back to your old thread and bump it, it has more information: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=57316 |

Did you check your tone ring? |

Should these rings be cleaned then on occassion? |
