Is the noise on start up and take off normal for the KJ engine? Actually it sounds like an exhaust leak but goes away on acceleration. |

If you haven't already done so, change your oil and use the specified synthetic oil, ASAP. My engine was excessively noisy when I purchased it. The previous owner cheaped out and used conventional motor oil instead of synthetic. He was sick and tired of the money he was putting into it and just didn't care anymore, so the vehicle suffered and was a sick puppy when I got her. The motor quieted down when I flushed it and began using the specified synthetic oil. Also get rid of the Oem muffler and install a 2.5" in and 2.5" out flow thru muffler to tame the beast. A Dynomax UltraFlo muffler is inexpensive and works best or you can always straight pipe it as some have done. The motor smoothed down even more with the GDE tune. |
