Post subject:  CRD Lift with OME Coil but no shocks/struts?

Hello,

is it possible to replace my 4 stock coil springs with OME while keeping my stock shocks?

I would like to lift my CRD a bit now that my stock coils are sagging a bit (60k miles).

Thanks for the answers!

Yes, it is very possible. The only issue you will have is your rear shocks will be barely long enough and your wheel travel will be severely diminished. You'll have to get longer rear shocks later when you have the money.

physically the front will fit - but stock will be pretty worn by now and OME's are 500 lb/in instead of 410 lb/in - so the damping will be off.

the rear - normally they're longer - i.e. Durango shocks - however stock may fit - but again stock will be pretty worn..

so It'll probably bolt together - but I don't think you'll like the way it drives.

So instead of replacing just the coils, i should replace the shocks too...

Instead of the Bilstein, i could put Durango shocks for the rear and jeep liberty shocks for the front?

That would be the cheapest way?

Thanks again

When I was doing this last month, replacement factory shocks for the front were $80. Bilsteins for the front were $95. So I did the Bilsteins (hoping that they'll last a LONG time). At 90,000 miles, my factory stuff was still in great shape though.

In the rear, I got the Skyjacker H7088s because they are the proper length and are only $40 each. They are working great so far. In the future, I'll put Bilsteins in the rear also.
