My jeep is stuck in 4wd.
When the shifter is in 2wd position the "part time" light on,
When the shifter is in the part time position the "full time" light is on.
When the shifter is in the full time position "no light" is on.
Any ideas?

I feel the 4wd engaged in all 3 positions.

Main issue on the 242 transfer case - tends to be tires mismatched front to rear
the selector cable pushes a spring that pushes a gear collar - if there's any difference front to rear - the collar won't move - and that difference can be tire size, wear, pressure
although - the easy fix - stop and back up - it release the pressure and it'll normally shift too/from 4 Full time (the differential eases the mismatch)

other common issue is the selector linkage slips and it's not in the right position - I don't know a good fix for that - try a search over in the 4x4 section - I think it's a fairly simple open up the console and connect/disconnect the linkage.

Or just a faulty t-case position sensor? (that happens more often then a real t-case malfunction)...are you absolutely positively sure it's in 4wd all the time?

My bet is a faulty linkage. It's either broken or has slid on the shaft so that it's not in the correct position. I had this happen before. Was a simple fix.

It's definitly in 4wd all the time. I'm going to take a look at it this afternoon, the first thing I tried was backing up and it didn't fix the problem. If I can"t figure it out today I am going to take it in, I have the 100,000 warranty and just turned 98000. Hopefully they will cover it if its anything major. Thanks for the help.

How I fixed mine when the cable end popped off with a 1/4" Stainless Steel Axle push nut.

You can hope you have the easy fix like this as an option.
