I've been through the manual and can't find instructions for changing out the bulbs (there must be two - left and right) in the heater control panel. Am I using bad nomenclature?

If this subject has been covered before, I'd really appreciate if someone could help by posting a link.

Can't figure out how to remove the panel..Thanks to all in advance..

You are correct, there are two bulbs in the HVAC control head. You can access the sockets from the back of the unit. I think I posted the part numbers for the bulbs a while back. Let me see if I can find the post

This is an old thread, but...

I just found the part number and a source for the 2 lamps inside the heater control panel: JKL Components part number DNW1-DW07/WHI11MM/39226B

The bulb comes complete with the plastic bayonet base and the blue silicone bulb filter.

$1.50 each at Mouser Electronics www.mouser.com

http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet ... 711MM39226

Alternatively, if the silicone filter and plastic base are in good shape, the inner bulb part number is 2182, which should be readily available from any electronics parts supplier.

Dash or instrument cluster bulb:
Mopar OEM: 4839738AA
Dorman pt. no.: 639-006
GM pt. no.: 22695949
Bulb/base type: B8.4D (for LED)

If you are going to pull panel, you can replace with newer LED bulbs. Just search for B8.4 LED...

WWD: The part numbers you list don't fit the heater/AC control head. It uses the smaller bulbs I listed. My order arrived today and they fit like OE, although the bulb itself is shorter.

The parts fiche pdf I have for the 06 KJ lists the heater control bulbs as 05069170AA, both in the bulb table in the electrical section, and separately in the heater & AC section. Most of the online Mopar retailers list this part number as "No longer available".

The images of the Mopar 4839738AA bulb look nothing like what was in my heater control, but I do remember them on the shelf at O'Reilly's and Auto Zone & those were too big.

I also stumbled across Dorman 639-001 after I placed my order from Mouser. It appears to be the same as the OE heater/AC control panel bulb, but it lists only Honda Accord & Odyssey for applications.

The JKL bulbs I ordered fit & are working great, but I think they are a little dimmer than the OE bulbs. Much brighter than the dead bulbs, though.
