I just dropped a wad on a new P1 Platinum Diehard from Sears(I'm tired of not being able to go anywhere when the temp is -30). Friday I paid the dealer for all the parts for a timing belt, idler, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, moog ball joints and tie rod ends. The whole job (once the parts come in) will be $1500-$1800. Yesterday I put in an order to Amsoil for gear lube to do the front and rear diffs as well as transfer case and an EA filter. The only really exciting thing which I shelled out for last week is a Frankenlift premium lift kit which I finally pulled the trigger on. So $3500 later, I'm really hoping I get through another year without glow plug or turbo issues. GDE will just have to wait till next year. |

Ah yes the CRD wallet pain syndrome i know it all to well. I am right there with you getting the parts together for a timing belt change and tomorrow a CV replacement on my driver side. New Ruff stuff rear diff cover and fluids. Thank god for being a full time student and full time worker that tax money should help pay for it all. Just was hopping for some nice jeep mods instead though ![]() ![]() |

Just spent $500+ on new GPs. Hope you don't need them but it does appear to be a common requirement with more miles or living in colder areas. Good news, CRD is running well, 86K miles, don't know what I will do for 100K mile service. |

And don't forget to have the Engine Computer Module software updated by the dealer, it will feel like you have a new vehicle under the hood. |

The dealer connects the ECU directly to Chrysler’s main computers via the web and updates all the software that your vehicle needs updated. It makes the engine run smoother, quieter, with more fuel efficiency and power; you will notice the difference right away and think that you have a new vehicle. A few of us have done it and love it. One hour labor charge from the dealer, $95.00 plus tax. It will require the glow plug update. |

Just dropped $1,001.92 on mine. ![]() If I have ANY major engine or transmission issues before 150K, this thing is going to accidentally get driven into a river. Only good news is.. gas has now matched diesel fuel in price here...but I'm getting 7 MPGs more than our gas KJ would have been getting. |

I thought if the dealer reprogrammed the ECM it would overwrite the GDE tune. ![]() ![]() ![]() Dave |

When you get a flash at the dealer, all modules are reprogrammed and reset to the latest and greatest as per service writer. ![]() |

It does take some work, but it is possible to evict the EPA from your engine bay. The savings will be increased fuel mileage, less weight, less crap to fail and possibly eat your engine, and less internal damage from their anti-diesel-mindset-designed equipment. |

Yes ouch! I'm getting ready to order the parts for the 100k TB, thermostat and water pump changeout. And a new set of tires. Nursecosmo, I'd really like to see and hear more about the Frankenlift premium lift kit. I was on the fence about keeping the Libby but this past hunting season changed my mind. I got through some incredibly tough off road trails because I had the "torque" and was only limited by clearance. And burned an amazing small amount of fuel in 4-wheel compared to what I'd get from a gasser. |
