Today my CRD ran fine for the 60 miles to work. while waiting for the Turbo to cool I was informed that i had to go to another area to work. The CRD then did not run very well. About 30-35 mph with tach at about 4000-5000RPM. Then when I got to parking lot I turned it off. Tried to Start back up and it would not start. Any Ideas? |

The first thing I would check is a fuel filter. You never know when one will plug up. If you have CEL check for codes. |

No CEL. I called the Dealership in Reidsville NC. Which is about 75 miles from where I am and they said to call Roadside Asst. and have them call there towing co. and have towed to Reidsville. D/C Roadside stated that they would not call that towing co. that they had to call the closet one to me. After some talking D/C called the Dealership who told D/C to disreguard my call and have me call them. When I called the dealership they said that the towing co. was on the way to the dealership to get me a loaner and bring it to me and pick up my Jeep. Not to worry that they would cover everything. About 30 min later I got a call from tow truck driver asking for directions to my place of work and to say he was on the way. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL SERVICE. If you are close enough to Reidsville I highly recomend Smith-Stokes Dodge Chrysler and Jeep. Great people and now I know GREAT SERVICE. |

Great, It's good to have a dealer that cares. I hope the problem is solved soon. |

Dealer Srevice Man. said that they replaced the EGR valve. He also said that this is the first one that has kept the KJ from starting. They had to go to another dealership and get another one. They sent someone down to pick it up. He said that it took them 2.5 hours to drive to get one. |

| Post subject: | SOS error codes HELP REQUESTED |
I got the CEL on on Sunday, disappeared on Monday and returned today. Wife said it felt sluggiish - I tried driving it tonight and it has a lot of turbo lag off the line but seems to pull strongly in the 2500-3500 range. Engine seems to be more noisy. Normally it sounds like 'nuts in a blender', now it is sort of the same but 'nuts' seem to have grown up. My big question is: can anybody tell me how to pull the code? I followed all the different counts for ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and none produce a code on the odometer. I think I have just about worn out the ignition lock but still no code, Please HELP ! |

KJ79 it is Off-On 4 times last time leave it on. If there are any codes stored it will read them on the trip odometer Caution, I have run into more than one occasion where the code displayed IS NOT the code the dealer will eventually get with his 10,000 dollar code reader. |

When my EGR failed I pulled the code with the key trick, the last 2 digits were inverted. And Bubba don't fprget to answer the poll on egr failures maybe DC is watching and will take some proactive measures to to this problem. Still love the CRD! |

Hey Bubba, thanks but... the key trick does not work for me. Wonder if the 2006 has a different method - does anybody know? |

the key trick doesn't work on mine, either, and it's a 2005. |

The key trick wouldn't work on my 05 CRD, unless I waited between attempts until the EGR/Antishudder valve had deactivated. It takes about 35 seconds on my CRD after a key-on-off sequence until the anti-shudder valve shuts off. Once I wait with the key off and hear the valve open back up, I can then key-on-off 3 times and read the codes. |
