i have a 06 crd that has right at 99000 miles. about 50 miles ago the perform service started dinging. can anyone tell me what service this is and how to reset it |

Probably telling you to get your timing belt done. I would recommend doing that and not resetting it until after its done |

Doesn't the EVIC show the "Perform Service" message each time an oil change is due? Mine does. I have it set to 6,250 mile intervals (don't have a clue why the intervals don't go in 5,000s to make it simple). |

Make plans to do the timing belt. I have fixed some VW Diesel Engines that had timing belts break, take my word, it is a big mess and most would replace the head. On the VWs, I would replace the valves, guides, lifters, and resleeve the lifter bores as needed. Since the CRD has rockers, 16 valves instead of 8, dual over head cams, a CRD would be a bigger mess and I don't want to have any first hand experience. |
