Threw a battery in it, bled the air out of the filter head, then cranked it. Fired up after about 2 seconds of cranking. Not blowing any smoke and still sounds healthy.

Still purring nice, gonna have to remember to start it up and run it a little more often until I get ready for the swap. Half of me wants to take the doors off, cut the top off, and drive around mad max style.

Somehow I don't think that would fly.

Looks like mine.

Nothing that a little buffing out can't fix.

Make a convertible out of it. Train the puppy to help, wax on wax off.

Unless the Zombie Apocalypse comes next week I doubt I'm gonna mad max it.

Supposedly its going to make its way into my yellow XJ, but I might go another route with it, you never know.

My son tells me there's a kit available for around $2500 that has everything you need to swap a crd into a late model XJ. If I picked up a crd up like that it could very well end up in my wife's perfect condition high miles 2000 XJ Classic. Then it would definetly be a classic :JEEPIN:

Chickens are not allowed in our community and all vehicles not inside require current plates that requires insurance :dizzy:

How did you train your dog not to go after the chickens?

I would love to see said kit. I think he may be thinking of the company that is offering a kit to bolt to a TDI to a AX-15, NV3500 etc.

Then I'm glad I don't live in your community. My backyard vehicles are out of sight and out of mind, and thats what matters.

My dog has been around chickens he was since 6 months old, even then I think its more of just his nature that he is not interested in them.

Squirrels though, oh stinky poo, he goes nuts for those, kinda like the golden on the pixar movie "up".

I've been following HPA's kit, a little pricey compared to Acme Adapters that lets you put the same engine in a Sammi or Toyota (older ones to replace the 22R)

No it was a CRD 2.8, not TDI but his linkes are dead :dead:
It might have been a spin off of the CRD/XJ conversion that diesel power magazine did but that's just a guess :dizzy:

There was a company in montana that did a conversion and those pics when around a few years ago, that CRD XJ later popped up for sale somewhere and we haven't seen it since.

But I certainly never saw them selling that "kit" though they would have been smart to offer it since they did some custom work once that they should have been able to reproduce(ie make CAD files when your figuring it out so you can just bust out the files later if someone ever wants to buy a "kit" from you.

Todd @ Diesetoyz also gave up on trying to offer "kits" to swap the US 2.8 into other vehicles.

The problem with anyone offering a "kit" is that the CRD oilpan was not meant to clear a SFA. And without knowing what the internals of the oilpan look like(such as where the pickup is or how far down the rod bolts extend, I cannot speculate on the prospects of modifying the oil pan - Todd probably looked at it, and I think he abandoned the project for a reason, though I'm not sure if that was it or not.

That engine sounds great!
I hope you can put it to good use. I hate to see a great CRD engine go to waste.
