Well I'm about to place an order for the parts but wanted to make sure I don't miss anything or if there is anything someone might recommend I order while I'm at it. I know I don't need the water pump gasket but for the few dollars it costs I'll get it just in-case.

Here is the list I got from the sticky on the forum:
Timing belt 5142579aa
Tensioner pulley 5142798aa
Idler pulley (2) 5142573aa
Timing cover gasket 5066921aa
Water pump 5142985aa
Water pump O ring 5159019aa
Water pump gasket 4864575
Thermostat 5142601aa
Thermostat gasket 5066806aa

Thanks.

Any tips on doing the job would be appreciated!

I getting ready for the same job on both of my CRD's. While you're at it, you might want to consider the following (if not replaced previously):

Lower hose - 55037921AE $43.29
Serp Belt - 5072437AC $94.52 (I'll use Gates K061130 for $58.99)
Upper hose - 55037920AB $12.15

The upper hose and serp belt are relatively easy to replace any time, but the lower hose is a bear to get to. It'll be a LOT easier when you've got everything out to do the timing belt/water pump.

I did not re-use the timing cover gasket, as mine was in good shape at 98K and would have been a bear to scrape off. So I left it intact. All it does is keep dust out anyway.

I also drained my radiator so I could do fresh coolant. Since you are not doing a water pump change, you probably won't do this. But...you will lose a little when you do the t-stat. So buy yourself a gallon of Zerex G-05 to have on hand anyway.

I assume you were meaning to say that you DID re-use the cover gasket?!?

Also I am going to do the water pump, I don't want to be since its that far apart I really should. I just hope this little beast runs another 100,000 miles for me! I have taken a look at both GDE's and some write-up's in the tech section but I wish there were some more pictures of the actual job and one thing that gets me still is how do you know how much tension to put on the timing belt seeing as you have to adjust it back after replacement?
Also if someone has a good torque spec. list for the stuff that will need to be re-torqued. I guess I could also go find the FSM and look it all up.
There really isn't any info on the water pump replacement while doing the belt, at least not on GDE's write-up. This stuff really doesn't seem like a super hard job, I actually like doing this kind of stuff but I don't like being able to screw it up so I want to be sure I know what I'm doing!!

LOL. Yes, I'm a moron. I DID re-use the existing gasket because it was in good shape and stuck onto the cover GOOD. sorry.

As for the timing belt tensioner, there is a lever on the pulley that you line up with the mark on the cover and you hold this in place with a special tool (GDE rents it out). Then...while you are holding the mark in place where it's supposed to be, you tighten it up. That part was actually pretty self-explanatory...but you do need the tool to make it easier.

Cool, if you say that part is self-explanatory then I feel better about doing the job! I do have some money into GDE for the tool rental. Even since it has gone up to $30 for the rental, still a good deal!

thanks.

I used jeepcarparts1.com and they said the upper hose is not available right now, they must be replacing it with a new model? I hope that wont take as long as the glow plug update!
jeepcarparts1.com was the best deal I could find and is the same dealer as moparpartsonline.com (Westbury Jeep Chrysler) They were very helpful.
