Several months back I was reading about the ORM elephant mod. I have had nothing but problems with my EGR valve and have been to the stealership several times to fix this issue..they had my car for 6 weeks yes..6 weeks and I drove away only to have the EGR problem pop up the next day as I was driving cross country to Indiana from Colorado. I cleaned the MAP sensor and did the elephant hose mod and have been pleased with the out come, only thing I didn't like were the fumes and oil that come off of the extended hose. The wife doesn't like the oil patches in the driveway or the fumes. After some thought I went to Lowes and purchased a 3/8 water and oil filter for a air compressor and hooked it up to my jeep where the CCV puck comes out I ran the hose to the in port of the filter using 3/8 X 2 in threaded pipe 3/8 thread on both ends. The factory hose fit snuggly over the threaded pipe and I used hose clamps to snugg the hose onto the end of the 3/8 pipe then ran the oulet in back to the down hose to the engine. I ran the jeep for 30 mins and it worked flawlessly. My only concern is that it might build to much back pressure. I didnt notice any change in performance other than the engine was much quieter and did hear a slight wine niose when give it some peddle up a hill this might be coming from the turbo spooling. My thoughts are the filter will allow the waste gas to flow back to the engine as it was designed to but capture the oil particles and not allow them to get back in the engine thus keeping the oil slug from getting back to the egr??. It seems to work great and it only cost me $30 bucks..any ideas?? Go with it or remove it?? Did I set it up right..the inlet valve comes from the puck and the outlet valve goes to the hose that your supposed to plug with the ORM mod??

The air filter for the Compressor was a Kobalt w/ metal and glass housing with 3/8 threads

Sounds like you've got it set up correctly. I've got the hose from CCV puck running down passenger side into a factory hole in the frame. Just the tip of the hose so if there is any oily residue it will drip into the frame. I don't get much vapor or oil from my engine and as far as the puck goes, took it off and cleaned it good with carb. cleaner so I know it's not gunked up. I plugged the section of hose going to the turbo with a solid piece of hard plastic, put a hose clamp on it to hold it solid in place.

I'm going to run her today for a while..I think its going to work ok...I dont get a lot of oil..but I do get the fumes and didnt want to snake a hose back far enough to get it past the windows as I tend to have mine down most of the time.

ok..the concept is a good idea..but I ran her today and noticed excessive smoke coming from the tail pipe..mostly at start up from a red light..but I could see the smoke as it sat idle..I did not see this before. When I got home I pulled the hose from the outlet end to see if it I could see or feel exhaust gas coming from the port while the engine ran..very little pressure or smoke, I could feel a little air pressure but it was minimal. I am assuming the air compressor filter is not letting the air flow the puck and restricting the gas to flow. As I ran the jeep I didn't notice a change in performance or idle..I'm going to pull it off and return it to the strait flow elephant mod..not worth blowing the engine up or causing any more problems to fix a little engine oil and gas problem..
