Post subject:  Washer Pump/Motor died, Dealer says it is replaced, $200!

My wife was complaining about no front/rear washer fluid action last month on the '05 CRD. I removed the inner fender, checked for 12VDC to the pump (it was there when activated) so I removed the pump. I noted a Mercedes Benz logo on the pump and the number 210 869 10 21 with a Swiss Made stamp on the pump. I called the dealer and I was told that there is a replacement that requires a new fluid tank with the new pump, total cost $94 apiece! I spent some time attempting to find a replacement for the pump and finally I had to use the "chat" feature to locate the part ($10.95 + shipping). None of the sites I visited crossed the words "Washer pump/motor". That is the term in the PDF repair manual I have.

What is a good site to use for Liberty parts?
Thanks,
CPO Tom (Ret. USN) :furious:

Welcome to the forum! First off if you haven't you should read the noob guide:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54207

Second, many people here have purchased from: http://www.moparpartsamerica.com with great success.

Third, the factory service manual and parts fiches can be downloaded in PDF form here:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24600

In the future if you ever need to find a random part like the washer pump you can search the PDF for keywords, or dig through the directory to find it.

In the 05 parts fiche I searched for "windshield washer" the first result was listed as "PUMP, windshield washer" with a Jeep part number of 05161319AA
However searching two online parts sites with that part number did not return any results.

So I checked the 06 parts fiche and got the part number:
05179153AA

Which also did not return any results. This is sometimes caused by a new part number superseding the old, or the online catalogues just not listed every part known to man.

The part number you posted off of the part sounds like a mercedes part number, so now armed with three different part number you ought to be able to order it from somewhere, generally if you call up one of the online retailers like moparpartsamerica and give them the jeep part number they should be able to look it up despite not listing it in the online database.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the site!

Why would the washer pump be unique to the CRD? Can't you just use any pump that'll fit?

The pump has two outputs, one to the rear window, one to the windshield. The motor (DC volts) spins in both directions, depending upon the requirement, using a check valve to direct the flow of washer fluid. It drops into the bottom of the fluid resivior. The part number 5179153AC is for 2007 models and does not fit the 2005 model. The new replacement part only fits the new resivoir.
PROGRESS!

I managed to break the pump output - and the dealership said the same - the original supplier went out of business and the replacement is a new design including the tank.

actually - I was looking at bugnout's fix
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=629475#p629475

seems to be a better idea.

Sorry I didn't post the FINAL result!
Mercedes -Benz had the part, for a M-B station wagon, it was $67.00.
I crossed the part to the M-B item.

That may be something I can get with a part number. :)

I had the same problem with the washer pump on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. Took the part to Advance Auto and they matched the part number with a Mercedes part number and got exact replacement part for $37.00. The replacement part # was 09089.

I had saved this a while back.
I did not purchase this. I have not gotten a chance to check it with mine.

20$ on EBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350623336606?ss ... 1436.l2649

Using the part number 09089 that BobWa posted, I found this online, looks similar, not sure if it a stock image, but it looks very similar to my pump (and the EBay one I posted).
http://www.autopartoo.com/oem/febi-bilstein/09089.html

I can't find the washer pump on Advance Auto website, but, it's not always the best.

Hopefully this can help someone, and help me confirm, lol.

The parts shown on the links provided by infernicus are not exact replacement parts. They may work, I don't know, but the colors are not right. The original part has a blue base. The intake is blue and the nozzle feeding the windshield is part of the base and is blue. The nozzle feeding the rear window is black and is part of the upper housing. The box it came in has the part #09089 as the main number. It also has a replacement number 1J6 955 651 and states it is to fit VW-Audi. A guy behind the counter at the local Advance Auto store noted the Mercedes logo on the part and was able to cross it to order the part, which I have installed and it works perfectly. It is an exact match to the one I took out. Hope this helps some one else avoid the $198 dollar expense and labor of replacing the reservoir recommended by the dealer.
