This is getting ridiculous!! Now the oil light is coming on after starting - and stays on for about a minute. It's done this several times now. There's no issue with oil pressure or quantity. I replace the oil sensor once before when it went bad and since there are no other symptoms of low oil pressure I'm inclined to believe it may be related to all the other wigged-out sensors. I now have a fuel gauge stuck on full, an electric radiator fan stuck on, a water-in-fuel light on, an oil light on, the TPS light on (i think the pressure sensor batts are low) as well as the forever-on CEL. (from the unplugged maf) Mah dash is perdy as a Christmas tree! |

Have you tried detaching the positive battery cable for 10 minutes to see if it doesn't reset the ECU? |

Have you check the wire harness to ECM? Also, a swap of the BCM with the wife's KJ, for troubleshooting purposes maybe? |

This may sound silly, but you might also want to re-do or double the engine ground points and the battery clamps. I have seen where they would corrode internally and look fine outside... And the engine to frame and frame to battery cables never suffer by having another loop added for more conduction. |

try cleaning the ccv? just a guess.. my wife jeep's dash acted like a that until I removed the home made ccv bottle and just let the hose vent to air. I need to change the setup but right now it works. -dkenny |

I had a problem with mice in the engine compartment chewing on things... might consider that as a potential problem for you. Wifes car had them inside it too... killed 4 or 5 of them with traps. Those little bastages. |

Actually not new. There is a thread from a couple years back I guy on LOST had to have his harness replaced after the local critters chewed thru it in a couple of spots. He parked his KJ outdoors on his farm. Turns out Chrysler used peanut oil to lube the wiring harness when installing because its biodegradable. Very Tasty |

Radiator Fan is a relay control just find it and replace it. And the oil light sounds like a cold engine possibly are you plugging it in at night? Especially if it is lower then 40 degrees where you are. The tire pressure sensors i thought they were a rotation regeneration model? |

Noticed a couple of mice nesting 2 years ago but they limited their building materials to the insulation around the battery. As of last year I finished building a mouse-proof heated garage (finally!) and have seen no evidence of them anywhere since then. I'm fairly sure now the TPS sensors have simply run out of battery life and need to be replaced. (Expensive as hell*) The relays for the fan test out fine (there are seperate ones for low/high) so I will replace the sensor if I can find it. I suppose I could just go ahead with a new water-in-fuel sensor as well. But the fuel gauge sending unit? Both the needle gauge and computer run off if it and both show full so I it's not the gauge itself but likely the sending unit . . .or some mysterious gremlin creature. The odd thing here is that the water-in-fuel light went off first, so I thoroughly cleaned the fuel manager and refilled the filter. (did not notice any water when I first drained the bottom) About an hour later is when I noticed the fan stuck on as well. After 100 more miles I noticed the fuel gauge was stuck on full - although the mpg meter still works. A week later is when the oil light coming on at odd times just after starting. It did it once in the morning but the garage is 55deg . . . and all the other times were when it was warm. Oil was changed last mo with the mobile 1 I use in both our CRDs. At that time I cleaned the CCV as well. I keep the engine pretty clean and monitored and visually, I see nothing. Unlike my wife's 06, I do take mine on a lot of very rough logging roads so wondered at first if something might have simply shaken loose. But, these issues came up suddenly just after picking up my son . . in a neighborhood with slow, smooth roads. And, again, I see nothing unplugged anywhere. Could it just be bizarre coincidence the sensors all started failing simultaneously? * |
